    RE: the polymer-cased ammo, I guess this was sort of inevitable, considering caseless ammunition seems to be dead in the water.

    I remember when I first heard about HK's caseless ammunition project. That was in the mid-70s and it probably already was about a decade old by then. 40+ years on and it still ain't much more than got out of the blocks.
    Yep. If you're not humping more ammo or anti-personnel ordnance, you're carrying spare batteries or additional comms.

    A spare battery for the RTO was next on my list but I already had 20#.
