Drove all the way to Tucson from PA last week and was having all kinds of issues with my cards not working. Noticed a bunch of bogus “Apple.com” purchases when I checked the bank app. Like 10 over a 2 day period. Put a lock on the card and I have to call and see what is going on tomorrow.

What I do is lock my card on the bank app on my mobile phone and only unlock it when I go to make a purchase then lock it straight away.

You should pay everything with credit card and just pay it off within the interest free period. Visa and mastercard 100% guarantee against fraud.

It is better to use their currency for free than your own.
