If I haven't done legs in about a year, should I start off doing leg extentions for about 8 weeks and than add squats or should I do vice versa? Basically what I'm asking is should I strengthen my legs before I start squats?

just start squating you will get stringer faster that way
I would always squat first unless you have an injury which is limiting the amount of weight you use on squats. Example, my bud has a back injury so he does leg presses and extensions prior to doing squats because he does not exceed 4 plates a side and for him going with no pre-exhaustion he feels that his legs don't get worked enough on squats.
Go with squats bro. They gotta be the best leg exercises for leg mass and strength.
