    Mixing body building and powerlifting

Hey is it ok to mix in powerlifting and body building into a workout. For example on my chest i would like to do 3 sets in the 1-2 rep range bench press.. and then 3 sets of 8-10 on the press and then 3 sets of flys and some inclines. Is it ok to mix them together to hopefully get the best of both worlds or during a workout should you do one or the other?

Personally im not a big fan of the 1-2 rep exercise I dont believe there is enough muscle stimulation for growth. Keep injury in mind with these 1-2 reps without a good warm-up, also fatigued your chest before completly working it out may kill your training session. On the other hand i think if you try the 1-2 reps at the conclusion of body part,it can become beneficial. When i train chest i train to destory it in as many angles i possibly can, but personally i dont do under 4 reps even when max reping i dont feel it is beneficial.

I have trained with a competative powerlifter, who trained all under 3 reps, maybe under 2, if im not mistaken we would start with 2 45 plates on each side, bench it once and add a plate until reaching something like 6 45 plates on each side, RAW. Not me but my buddy, he trained primarily for strentgh not size and i think at one point he closed in on one of Scott Mendelsons early records.

We are all different perhaps the training method you mentioned will work for you, who knows. Powerlifting is great to mix for strength but i dont think you should mix them on a training day. Good luck to you.

Sure it's ok, but depending on what your goals are, I don't think it will help much. One is different from the other. I think they'd cancel each other out and you wouldn't get very far in either direction.
