Injecting in Glutes

Does somebody have a link or a good website I can go to and learn how to PIN? Is it difficult to PIN into glutes on your own? Thanks..

Not sure of a website, but I will offer this advice: do it in front of a mirror so you can see what is going on rather than trying to twist too far. I can insert, aspirate and push the plunger all with one hand and can see in the mirror if I have any blood when I aspirate.

Aspirate is refering to drawing back the plunger to make sure there is no blood right?

Sciatic runs from the bottom up and towards your tailbone. I was always told(by a paramedic) to cut your ass in half horizontally and never go below that line. After, i don't know, hundreds of injections probably, it's never failed.

Thanks. I looked at this website before but just a little nervous about "exactly" where to PIN. I heard if you hit that sciatic nerve it could paralysis you. From the pic it looks like the upper and outer portion.

My doc explained to me this way: put your index finger on your hipbone and touch your cheek with your thumb. Then I pin in the area just below where my thumb touches my ass cheek. I used this as a guide the first few times till I got a feel for where that spot was. Now I just load the pin and go. I can guarantee this to work for everyone given some people have very large hands but it was perfect for me.

Ok. This puts my thumb right on the waistline. So really I will be pinning on very top of glutes with this method. Seems like a good spot from the other website pics.

I do the same only with thumb on hip bone and index on cheek.

I have done all the above, but mostly I just flex my gluteus medius feel for it and go there, so I can get deep in the head of the muscle. Don't keep it flexed when you pin though. Its a no brainer dude. A lot of times I will have trace amounts of blood in the syringe, I just chalk it up to a little scar tissue.
