    I didnt used to suck at jujitsu

    Ive been doing jujitsu pretty consistently for about 4 years. Mostly no gi (just shorts and a rash guard as apposed to the silly karate jacket).
    I have not improved in the last year or two lol. And i think its because i got bigger. Im about 30lbs heavier that i was a year and a half ago. Most of which i beleive is quality tissue, not that im so great or aesthetic. I used to be able to fight 5-7 minute sessions over and over. Now i do a couple of drills and im seeing stars! I think ive also lost flexibility. I couple of the guys at the school told me they were weight lifters and had to slim down to improve on their jujitsu game. Which leaves me with 2 things;

    Fuck my jujitsu ability, I’ll never stop trying to grow. Its worth getting choked out during the classes. Atleast I’ll sort of look tough.

    Has anyone else ran into this issue in mma/jujitsu/kickboxing etc? Being bigger and stronger apparently is not the answer in competitive fighting. Not to mention my weight class puts me with guys a foot taller than me.

    Oh shit.

    I used to jump into holes in the ground 12' deep. With a wrench in each hand. Now I cant jump down from the bed of my truck.
    If I were to kickbox it would be ankle kicks every time. I am incapable of putting my ankle on my knee.
    I gotta turn my shoulders to look in the passenger side mirror. I get dizzy looking up. I cant use the center console in a vehicle. If my back hurts I can't wipe my ass. After workout I cant reach my face. I have to apply shaving cream to both hand to get my face even coated. My chiropractor laughs at me...

    According to him it would all be better if I took yoga and strectched.

    My fighting skills are focused on fainting on my opposition and crushing them, when I run out of air.

    I have no dexterity. I get furious trying to pin myself with my clumsy ass hands. I stick a pin in and drop it and it dangles and cuts muscle. I get winded fucking and have to take breaks, "Gimme a minute... Can't breathe.... FUCK IT'S HOT IN HERE!"

    More muscle=more blood/oxygen required to operate it. Apparently I need to do cardio some say. I say they are gay though. I just need my heart muscle to get bigger so it can pump more blood and oxygen.

    I turn purple during workout and am mentally retarded for thirty minutes afterward. Its wonderful.
    All of it. I would have it no other way.

    Well, in martial arts it’s not about size or strength however that should not cause you not to improve.
    Have you ever seen Kai Greene’s posing routines? He is huge and has better flexibility than most martial artists. You still need to stretch and improve your flexibility.
    Martial arts is based on speed not strength.

    IMHO you get out of it what you put in.

    Your right, if i focused more on fighting id improve. But it just always seems to take a back seat to lifting. At this point its just cardio for me.

    Yep, I’ve experienced this. I would always have to roll with the heavy weights that came in the gym. I was probsbly 225 tops at that time but 6’1. So on a regular day I was the biggest guy there . I think I’ve told this story before on here.

    But one day we had a new student come in that wanted to start MMA. He was 6,6” and 310 pounds. He was the right guard for a well know B1G school until he graduated. And guess who the fuck his partner was?

    Long story short he never came back to class cause Igased him them choked him out. But I didn’t come back to class either as he crushed ever rib in my body and I sat around for 6 months healing lol
