sosa was jacked in the late 90's ... looked like a middle linebacker. must've weighed 235 pounds and was ripped. reaching 600 is a huge accomplishment but it's obviously devalued. it's just a matter of time before guys like Griffey Jr., A-Rod, Manny, etc. reach that number.

Aas or not Sosa is one of the nicest guys in the sport. I am happy for his accomplishment and hope he continues.

Steroids probably don't help in terms of hand-eye coordination and "hitting" but there's no question, that such chemicals will help a professional athlete in terms of recovery/strength. If you ask any old-time ballplayer, he would probably say something like, "If I knew what I know at 35 but had the body of when I was 25 ... I'd be a great, great player." PEDs make it happen and can make a solid ballplayer into an All-Star (let's say Giambi), an All-Star into a HOFer (let's say Sosa/McGwire), and a HOFer into a legend (let's say Bonds).
