    NFL Free Agency

    Green Bay Packers

Trade DT Corey Williams to the Cleveland Browns for a second round draft pick.

I don't like the trade because Williams is young and there was cap room to sign him. Williams is a good run stopper and provides a solid pass rush at the defensive tackle position. He is a starter and the Pack is giving him to the Browns for a second rounder. Draft picks are a gamble at times. You don't know if they will develop or not.

Add your favorite team and their interactions, during free agency, to the thread. The Packers, generally, are not very active in free agency.

Agreed. It was actually only a fourth round pick. Guard Allen Barbe who never saw the playing field despite our struggles at the guard position.

I think this decision had some wei***ng in Favre's retirement today.

well i'm not a big pats fan. but they definitely should be happy they kept ahold of Moss.

being from Indiana, I've kinda been a Brady Quinn fan. he looks like a solid player, think Cleveland will get rid of him, or are they going to try a 1,2 quarterback setup?

As a Packer fan, I would loved to have Randy Moss on my team. He demands double coverage so it frees up your other receivers. Wes Welker had a great season for this very reason.

Diehard Browns fan. I'm expecting HUGE things next year. Regardless of quarterback. The job is Anderson's to lose. I think Quinn can do an adequate job given the weapons surrounding him. The potential is there for this to be a 1999 Rams or last year Patriots type offense; Edwards, Winslow, Stallworth, Jeruvicious, who do you cover. Lewis in November and December, offensive line is one of best in football. If the defensive shows up at all this team can contend for the AFC......Regardless, has anyone seen Quinn's physique, dude's a freak for a quarterback.

Your defense acquired Shaun Rogers from the Lions at DT and Corey Williams from the Packers at DE. A very strong offseason for the Browns. It should be an interesting battle between the Steelers and Browns this next season.

Yes it should, and its gonna take winning the division to make the playoffs because our schedule is brutal. We drew the AFC South and the NFC West. No fun.

Yeah, I was speaking to a Steelers fan the other day and he was complaining about how tough their schedule was. I believe he said that Pittsburgh has the toughest in the NFL.

Yeah its gotta be bc they have the same as ours, except they get New England and San Diego on top of it, ouch...Lets see, for them that would be us twice, bengals twice, ravens twice, then Indy, Jax, Tennessee, NYG, Eagles, Cowboys, Patriots, Chargers. Sucks for them.....Hey is Corey Williams going to be able to play def end in a 3-4, i dont know a lot about him?

He played DT for us, alongside Ryan Pickett. Pickett was our main run stuffer but Williams was good too. What Williams was better at was providing a pass rush at the defensive tackle position. He got seven sacks in each of the last two seasons. Not too shabby for a defensive tackle. He should be fine at defensive end since he provides a good pass rush and is solid against the run. You have fine player and I'm pissed the Packers traded him for a number two pick. Williams should have remained a Packer.

Yeah, i was a little surprised myself that they let him go with how well the front 7 played last year, I figured they would want to keep it in tact. They were my fantasy defense, they dont do a lot of fancy stuff, but they were tough to score on.

GM Ted Thompson drafted DT Justin Harrell in the first round last year. Many questioned his decision because Harrell was hurt for the majority of his senior year and the Pack had good depth at the position. Thompson knew that Harrell wouldn't be able to be Williams out so he handed the job to him on a silver platter. Much like RB Cedric Benson got his job over RB Thomas Jones, last year, on the Bears.

I hope it works out too because the Bears got burned badly. Considering they are in our division, I would have thought someone would have took note. I guess egos are very fragile in NFL.

There is some talk about the Carolina Panthers looking to trade DE Julius Peppers after a down year. Also, he only has a year remaining on his contract.

Packers: Take Jenkins out of the right end position and insert Peppers. Who would a defense double team? Kampman or Peppers? When it is Kampman and Jenkins, the choice is obvious.
