    Unhappy Forearm question

    Hi Guys,

I had a double Carpal Tunnel operation about 4 years ago and as such lost probably 50% of my grip strength. This has had a big impact on the size of my forearms, I believe due to having to use wrist straps when deadlifting/lat pull downs etc. My specialist has told me that my grip strength will never improve and I may require further ops in the future.
My forearms are really getting me down as they are the same size as my 6 year old sons. My biceps are 16" (I am 5'10" and 80Kg) and this makes my forearms look even smaller.
Can any of you recommend good forearm building exercises that do not rely on grip strength as much (if such exercises exist). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi RJ sorry to hear this; dont let it get you down I have some scoliosis and have worked through it.

Ok a few things.. I have always had small forearms and had to bust my ass to bring them up. These are what I like to do:

    Reverse preacher curl:

I don't actually do it the way in this pic but you could.. what I do is I stand up and do them 21 style with strict form. So 7 reps from bottom to middle, 7 reps from middle to top, then 7 reps from bottom all the way up

Always pyramid up with warmup sets when working the hands , wrists and forearms. When I don't do this, I get a lot of popping and discomfort. Trust me on this you don't have to get tweaks or injuries just learn it from me.

I like basic reverse forearm curls:

I keep my forearms closer together than he does.. I use a straight bar.. I do them off a bench.

    Superset with forearm curls:

I don't let mine roll down like that.. i just start with the bar and add weight on every set.

If you are doing biceps the same day, include a hammer curl type exercise.
