I thought Keith Richards was dead? Oh wait, my bad, he just LOOKS dead. Hehe.
Ok last post for tonight, I'll leave yaz with a few names to chew on.
Vivian Cambell-Dio
Tom Sholsz (SP?)-Boston
Dude from Night Ranger...can't remember his name, but listen to "Still rock in America".
Sammy Hagar-love him or hate him, he was a guitarist from hell.
And the last, the best, the most TALENTED band ever to take the stage....
RUSH. You have to see these guys live to appreciate how much music 3 guys can make, and never miss a note.
Nighty night,

Without a doubt Yngwie Malmsteen is king...
I saw him perform so many times and he always
amazed you live as much as the produced tracks...
1) Yngwie Malmsteen ( Must have sold his soul like Niccolo Paganini)
2) Eddie Vanhalen ( Influence a whole generation)
3) Vinny Moore ( Vinny's a local boy gotta put him 3rd )
4) Al Di Meola ( I probably spelled his name wrong) ( Vinny's influence)
5) David Gilmour ( You're dead on He is incrediable too)
6) Paul Gilbert ( This guy was Insane good!!)
7) Randy Rhoads
8) Jason Becker/Marty Friedman (these 2 were best when together)
9) Tony Macalpine
10) Jeff Beck
So many great players back in the day... What happend to them
I can't think of one guy on the scene now that would make my top 20

For pure shred it's tough to beat Yngwie but outside of a few songs most of his stuff is just masturbating the instrument. There is a line between technical ability and ability to play something that people want to listen to. Dimebag hits that line the best. Not to mention he never misses a note in concert no matter how blasted he is on booze. He and Vinny formed Damageplan in the wake of Pantera's demise. Sounds great. After that last Pantera album a change isn't necesarily the worst thing ever.

I was just getting ready to throw that info. out there.
Satriani is my fav. I love the solo "always you/always me" and "I believe"
If anyone wants to sample Steve Vai's talent just rent the movie crossroads
with Ralph machio.Old movie but all the guitar in the film is all Steve. At the end it shows a battle of good and evil Steve Vai as himself versus machio it's cool as hell and really shows you what Steve Vai is capable of.
