Yes, absolutely.

might want to get more info on that. for some reason i think that the addition of glutamine will reduce the absorption of the glutamine peptides in your whey protein, which would defeat the purpose of adding it. Not too sure though, i'll find out and get back to the thread!

glut
Here's some info I came across :
A dosage of 2 grams on an empty stomach has been shown to increase the level of circulating growth hormone in the body. This is good because growth hormone promotes muscle growth and fat loss.
Another effect is that the body does not have to break down other amino acids to make glutamine. Glutamine is a popular amino in the body and if glutamine levels are low, the body will break down muscle protein to synthesize it.
The extra glutamine you take in supplement form helps support muscle growth if taken in doses of 5 grams or more at a time (this large amount is necessary to get enough past the digestive system to be of value - the gut sucks up glutamine like a sponge).
Other effects of glutamine include immune system boosting, improved recovery, cell volumization and enhancement of glycogen replenishment.
The best times to take glutamine are first thing in the morning, right after a workout and right before sleep.
Dosages can vary from 2 grams (minimum) to about 10 to 15 grams (maximum). The larger doses should be used immediately after a workout to promote anabolism and minimize catabolism (muscle breakdown).Last edited by Hugh-Hefner's-Son; 08-20-2004 at 12:05 PM.

You can mix them all you want. If you read the AA profile of your whey protein you will see there is already a significant amount of glutamine in it. If you start rippin ass alot then you are probably mixing in too much.

I agree with you Tribol , I recall reading (cant find it) that it's not good to mix glut and whey , especially after workouts.
The best time to take it is as you suggested, am before cardio or regular day and at night

Depends on whether you are consuming peptide bound or free form glutamine. They do not use the same receptors.

Peptide bound is by FAR better absorbed and utilized than the free form, which is mostly used up by the organs before it can ever reach the muscle.
If you can handle the taste and lack of solubility issues, peptide bound is the way to go, no comparison.
