"Cottage" cheese, is an outstanding choice for a protien/fat meal. Even better for near bedtime/midnight snack.

Low fat Cottage Cheese is the best snack IMO. Especially at bedtime because of the casein...it keeps aminos / proteins in your system for a long time which helps ward off night time catabolism. I like it.

I think that depends on how many grams of protein and fat you are getting per serving. I you are getting say 40 grams of protein and 10 grams of fat and 6 grams of total carbs that's not too bad. I would look for the Cottage cheese higher in fat, I would think that they would be lower in sugar simply because sugars were most likely added to make up for the absence of fat. Post how many carbs you would have in one serving and then it'll be easier to tell if that's too many!

low fat cottage is exactly what you dont want. get full fat. they are healthy EFA's and help slow down absorption of protein. 16oz of large or small curde only has 12 grams of carbs with 20fat and 56 protein

I also thought that the higer fat cottage cheese would be better but isnt 12 grams carbs too much to mix with tthat much fat? Especially before bed.
