Rice Cakes (carmel)
Hey,
Wanted to know what you thought about having rice cakes while dieting.
I usually have them with breakfast (egg whites and 6 rice cakes) . I get a pretty good combination of carbs and protien from the meals.
Protien 40 g, Carbs 70-80g, fat 10-15 g

firstly when dieting, 80g carbs is fairly high, but that depends of course on your carb intake during the rest of the day. also, rice cakes are VERY high GI, so I say they are a no no, unless you get the wholewheat/wholegrain/brown rice cakes, but even those are fairly high GI. try not to boost yer insulin so much in the morn

I agree with Xenathon. Rice cakes are a carb blast. The only time I have seen people lose weight while ingesting lots of carbs, is when they severly limit thier protien and fat intake (a big no no if you want to retain muscle mass).

I usually eat them after my workout. That is most likly half the carbs i eat during the day. The rest i eat from bran cereal and veggies.
