How do you eat your oatmeal?
I got the flavered oatmeal like peaches and cream and mix it with the regular oatmeal and that tastes great. It taste so good that im almost positive that i shouldnt be eating it and should just stick to my milk and regualr oatmeal.
Anyone throw any other stuff in there oatmeal to make it taste a little better?

There is a lot of sugar in flavored oatmeal, and it's not nearly as wholesome. Get the real stuff. I usually toss some splenda on mine, or some low calorie, sugar free syrup. I even use water with it, realizing that one cup of skim milk has something like 13 grams of sugar.

Mine I get the five min oats. Plain is the great, but I do add, equal, sugar free syrup, cinammon, PB, sugar free jelly. AThose are my favs.

I do the same as pain, 5 min slow cooked oats. this morning i tried something different; I mixed my 1 cup of water with my protein mix and made the water flavored in chocolate. cooked the oats as usually and didnt have to add any sweetners. a little extra protein for me: soon as i get my strawberry powder in i will try that to

abstrack....the strawberry taste pretty good mixed with oatmeal. I have to use honey though.....(my daughter eats oatmeal with me in the morning and it's the only way she'll eat it, out of my bowl with honey). What can I say....being a parent some sacrifices MUST be made!!LOL

I put Splenda on the top of my oatmeal. When I am not cutting, I will put some fresh fruit in as well.

Is it ok to have 1 minute oats? I mistakenly bought a deal at publix and have like 5 cartons. Whats the difference?
-

No that's just as bad as the instant....it won't really hurt...I mean if you bought 'em, use 'em. Next time watch out for that and get the regular kind.

Hey Big Texan thanks for the info on the strawberry pro rated, stuff is good. if i didnt have 40lbs of chocolate here I would order some more strawberry. hell!! I might still even do it
Pain, I bought some of the sugar free syrup. How is that with the oats?? got some chocolate and strawberry. doesnt taste bad alone but makes you miss the real taste of syrup, hehabstrack@protonmail.com

I eat mine with a spoon...
To add flavor I might add maple syrup (stuff is so plentyfull here I could almost use it to wash my toilet with).
I also like throwing in a handfull of trail-mix or GORP in my bowl of oatmeal. YUMMY! Thats a habit I picked up while backpacking. It's pretty good!

Oh yeah.....what in the blue blazes is GORP?
-
03-19-2003, 04:08 PM #30
GORP is hiker food... "Good Old Raisins and Peanuts", though nowadays GORP is a generic term...
My gorp mix contains:
Sunflower seeds, peanuts, raisins, dehidrated apple, pineaple and papaya, pumpkin seeds and a handfull of M&M's.
A handfull of GORP is a real "pick me up" between meals when you're hiking in mountains all day long with a 50lbs pack on your back...
And a handfull of gorp in your oatmeal in the mornign really gives it zing... specially when you're on the trail 2 weeks and you've been eating oatmeal packets every morning

AAahhhhh I see. Sounds good. I wish I would have had that back in survival school. I'll never get over eating boiled bark just to subside hunger pains....or the bugs. I was lucky enough to kill a rabbit though. LOL

Im not trying to contest the facts, i just want to understand, but how in the hell are they as bad as instant sugar filled packet ones like maple syrup and peaches and cream flavor. ALl it is is one minute oats?
Enlighten me

Well not AS bad but they're refined and processed, so they still hit the GI pretty high, just use 'em up and afterward stick with the regular oats.

I eat the old fashioned kind with a lil skim milk...when bulking, I mix in a banana sliced up.
