Question about retaining water...
I am kind of confused after doing a search on retaining water. So is it better for me to drink an ass load of water (1.5-2 gallons a day) because my body will try and get rid of it, or is it making me retain more? I am eating quite a bit of sodium from Meats/Canned Veggies & Tuna and I was just wondering how the water retainment and bloating etc work. I am not really having a problem with it, but I was just wondering since I weighed in about 9-10 pounds heavier yesterday like I said in my last thread, and think it might just be water weight. Can someone explain how it works to me? Thanks guys

Drink the water... your body will release it.....
you will retain some... depends on your cycle..
stop eating canned anything..
buy frozen veggies, and fruit... and never eat processed at...

I thought sodium was of no issue though unless you are prepping for a show? That's what Swole said atleast... because Sodium ammounts are really the only thing I haven't paid attention to when eating or planning my diet.

less sodium plus more water equals no retention, at least in my experiences

when you lack water your body trys to preserve every ounce it has.. (notice how you never urninate when your thirsty?) however when you overwhelm it with water it notices the vast supply and does not need to keep water reserves.. yes sodium does play a part but it isnt as drastic as it might sound.. with a continus water flow it washes out the sodium for most part..

No I totally understand the sodium issue and bloating..... but I just didn't know if taking in more water would be the answer or cause a bigger problem if and when it did occur. I am still not sure if it was water weight or if I just gained lean mass. I swear I feel extremely lean and my abs are coming out.... but I gained weight. But hey if I did and I am doing both then I guess I am getting the best of both worlds then and I should be happy.
Thanks for the help man

Just drink more water. The only time you should cut sodium is for the last week before pics or before a show.
Unless you are some obesessive compulsive who likes to eat bland sh*t all the time and walk around angry because you want flavor. Not me!

i said in a thread above that if you rinse canned veggies you lose some of the salt on them...also there is reduced sodium canned veggies too. also the frozen bagged veggies are cheap as well and have NO added sodium so they are your best bet. also tuna plays a big role in my diet as well so i dont think you need to worry about that. drink the water like you said and you're good.

Correct, and too low of salt/sodium for extended periods of time is actually WORSE for you and your body than too much sodium.
