    Ground turkey

I eat a lot of ground turkey. It has 18g of protein for 4oz of meat but seems to be some what high in fat for turkey. I am sure they have to add something in when grinding. Anyone eat this or know anything about it?

I don't think anything is added to it. It is just fat because they don't clean it up good.

Now, ground turkey breast is lean. Try it.

The lean turkey you are all talkin about, do you have to get it sliced in the deli, or can you just pick it up at any supermarket? Peace, Doc.

I can't eat turkey without getting flashbacks of seeing relatives that I don't like.

I love extra lean ground turkey. I put it in fajitas and it's delicious!

    Ingredients

There are many places that will add ingredients into meats, but it really depends on what type of meat you are talking about. For instance, smoked meat oftenn has salt and other preservatives that aid in the cureing process. As to weather or not they increase the fat content of the meat itself I could not say. Bufchic hit the nail on the head though, you can find turkey that is approx. 98% lean which by far is better than many other meat choices that you have as far as fat content goes. The only problem is fat useually adds to the flavor of many dishes weather it be a meat dish or vegtable.

Ground turkey comes in 2 varieties. There is ground turkey, or ground turkey BREAST. Regular ground turkey is composed of white, dark meat, skin and fat. If you want something truly lean, buy the ground breast.
