I read an article in this month's edition of Popular Science on how pharmaceutical companies are modifying cows and goats genes to produce medication in their milk. One drug that they're working on?......HGH!! This isn't some theory either. Some companies are already producing commercially available drugs with this method.

I found a couple of old articles on the net about this....but you really need to read the article in this month's article...

Articles from 2005, interesting but it does make me want to drink less milk or none. I have been hearing/reading the pasteurized milk is bad for you anyways and many links to cancer. I also learned 20 years ago milk is the number 1 cause of kids having ear infections and needing tubes..... Go figure. We/Humans are the only mammal that drink milk after 1yr old.

but milk is soooo good! i think it's on a case by case basis. I've been drinking milk like it's nobody's business since I was born, and I've never had any issues with it.

For the record, we're also the only mammals who continue to have a fascination with boobs WELL PAST 1 years old as well!

Recently, a Harvard researcher gave a provocative talk on the association between cancer and cow's milk and other milk products. The scientist, Ganmaa Davaasambuu, M.D., Ph.D., a native Mongolian, noted that ingestion of natural estrogens from cows (particularly from pregnant cows) in milk may be linked to breast, prostate, and testicular cancers in humans. All are "hormone-dependent" tumors, meaning that they need sex hormones to grow.

Dr. Davaasambuu cited a study comparing diet and cancer rates in 42 countries that showed a strong correlation between milk and cheese consumption and the incidence of testicular cancer among men age 20 to 39 – rates were highest in high consuming countries such as Switzerland and Denmark and low in Algeria and other parts of the world where people eat less dairy. She also linked rising rates of dairy consumption to the increased death rates from prostate cancer (from near zero per 100,000 men five decades ago to seven per 100,000 men today) and noted that breast cancer also appears to be linked to milk and cheese consumption.

I heard/read about milk LONG time ago. First time was 20 years+ ago how in other countries they discovered that about 80% of small/young kids who had ear infections it was linked to milk and once they cut the milk out no more ear infections and no need for tubes in the ears.

I have been reading quite a bit lately again in regards to milk and cancer. Do I think it's 100% accurate???? no but it makes sense. Another natural product that has been genetically altered so our bodies can not assimilate it properly but we have been raised to have it as a stable in our diet.

Actually that does not surprise me considering the rising use of estrogens to artificially increase milk production over the past 20 odd years. This excess estrogen get passed on us and hence the problems you mentioned. There have been increasing reports of estrogen related disorders in many countries around the world; including In Asia, where they have reported cases of breast development in infants and young children. Little girls reaching sexual maturity at *very* young ages etc. There are many specialists who would go so far as to say the impact of excessive estrogen [mainly due to xenoestrogens] is reaching pandemic proportions yet corporations look the other way in the name of profit. Just Google the subject, there are too many results to reference them all.

True and did you know the EU banned all milk and beef from the US?

Interesting, I was not aware of the EU ban. I did a quick Goggle and found quite a few links including the following one from less than two weeks ago:

The sad truth is, this is endemic of our entire food production system over the past 20 odd years. I honestly believe the rise in obesity is due less to over-consumption, fast food and sedentary lifestyles and more to do with the chemical cocktails we now call food. It only stands to reason that the chemicals we give to animals to induce rapid growth and overall increased size would have the shame effect on humans. The real shame is that as long as there is profit attached to it, it's not likely to change any time soon; even at the expense and suffering of thousands of lives.
