manual heartrate
while doing my cardio i like to use the eliptical machines. for some reason during the "fat burning mode" which will control the resistance to my target HR my heartrate isn't picked up. It then switches to manual mode.
my question is then what is the best way to increase my heartrate while doing cardio? Should i increase the resistance and perhaps go slower or should i decrease the resistance and go faster?
thanks

i would always increase resistance and try to keep a constant tempo.
don't rely on the machines and their sensors for your heartrate. get a polar heartrate monitor. only like 40 - 50 bucks for the cheapest one (monitor, watch, electrode gel)
