    engagement ring=?????

What's going on guys? I am still new here and learning a lot. I thought i should share this as I am sure most of you can appreciate it. Two years ago I made the mistake of getting engaged, and along with that bought her a VERY nice ring. Our relationship eventually crumbled due to her screwing up. When we seperated I asked for the ring back, and she was surprised. I told her she screwed up and I thought it was rightfully mine (knowing its monetary value ). Ever since then it has sat in my safe tucked under my bed. I know I wont even get 1/2 the $ back that I paid for it, so I just saved it . Long story short, I am 6 weeks into my first cycle, and realized selling it would pay for my next couple of cycles, plenty of anti-e's/ PCT, and a few packages of chicken breasts!!! We still talk occasionally and there is no better payback than looking my absolute best, having packed pounds of muscle on, and her knowing that she ****ed up. I may have lost a lot of cash, but the eventual rewards from the entire experience have and will prove to be much greater!! Since our seperation she has gained about 15 lbs, so it's even better.

yeah, diamonds dont tend to loose value...find a mom and pop's jewler, get it appraised, then offer to sell it to them.

i was also engaged, i got the ring back of course not because of the value but because of its sentimental value to me. i will never sell it, i guess im one of those sentimental types

Sh*tty deal bro. The best thing you could do is continue on and find ways, like the one you have, to keep improving yourself. In the end she will probably want to get back together, I know my ex did.

I would have kept the ring as a sentiment for making a life changing decision.

Tony..she acted suprised because you asked for the ring back???? dang..a ring is a binding contract of a up and coming marriage..and she blew it....I agree with deca ...take it back to the store where you purchased it and talk ONLY to the manager..let him /her...know whats going on...most of the time you get your total money back ..and that would mean...even more cycles.....way to go on bulkn up..thats got to be the TOTAL revenge....keep ya head high...
At a bookstore the other day, I saw a book entitled "Sex for Dummies." Why would someone want to teach dumb people how to reproduce? Aren't there enough of them now?

I thought i deserved it back because she screwed up. And then she said "I didn't ask for anything back that I gave you." So I said, "well you never gave me anything that meant this much or cost ANYWHERE near this much, had you, then I would give it back." Not that I'm greedy about getting expensive gifts, but it's the principle...

You had every right to it bro. I was engaged to this chick, then she dumped me. I got my ring back because she broke it off. If I had been the one to break it off, I wouldn't expect the ring back. I agree totally with you bro! I am keeping my ring because someday I might need it and I can trade it for another......makes sense to me anyway.

Remember guys, diamonds are geologically worthless gems. I just did a grad marketing research paper on the subject. Basically both production and price are set by the most succesful cartel ever built. More sucessful than opec or the meddien (sp) cocaine cartels. If the supply of diamonds was allowed to flow unrestricted the price would be next to nothing they are so plentyful in the earth. Rarity is a big myth, they were rare in ancient times before they were discovered in Africa. Just so you know control of the diamond mines by some of the poorest countries in africa has caused the death of well over 3.5 million people, not to mention the rapes, mutilations, and forced slavery all which exist to this day.

Also they have just now perfected a couple of ways to actually grow synthetic diamonds in a laboratory, so perfect that even a gemologist can not tell the difference. The cartel is building special machines that can tell the difference and is trying to force synthetic diamonds to have tiny labels inscribed to save their monopoly.

Yeah but they have worked the best marketing campaign on United States women since prior to World War 2. So much so that a diamond is expected a part of the progression of the "normal" relationship, like big green said they even set a standard on how much you should spend and try to put that in your mind.

Prior to WWII diamond sales were slipping in Europe and they saw the US as the perfect market to try to turn around especially since we declared we were going to sit out World War II at the beginning. Almost 70 years of marketing, and hammering the same message to all of us that diamonds equal romance, The better the diamond the better the love, working campaigns that show us what diamonds celebrities wear and give to each other.

What a load, but have to admit it would be one tough argument to try to talk a girl into an even more rare gem that costs less. You should have seen all the women in my class when I did my presentation and talked about what goes on in Africa so they can wear their diamonds. Showed pictures of amputees, small children forced into slavery, child rebel soldiers and stats on all the murders from the UN. I think it turned more than a few stomachs. For example the UN declared Congo the worst country in the wolrd for a child to live based on what goes on.

True to a certain extent although the businesses you mention are not known for price fixing or the other horrible circumstances. Debeers has an old anti-trust suit brought by the government and it can not operate within the US. If any of their Corporate officers fly to the United States they will be arrested. Nothing like that with Starbucks. All diamonds are sold in the US by US buyers flying outside to get the diamonds, usually Britain. They don't get to choose which diamonds they buy, because how would the cartel sell the lower quality ones. They are told to take the good with the bad or they don't get any.

Debeers is trying to reach a deal with the government to pay a fine to settle the old price fixing suit and so they can open up retail shops here. Supposed to happen the end of this year. Letting them get away with a fine is a joke.
