thats great jeremy the fact of the matter is, more people voted for gore than bush, screw the electorial college and all of that more people voted for someone who is not in office, granted gore wasnt a much better choice but as far as foreign policy we would still be in a better situation if dubya hadnt stolen the office, funny it happened in jeb bushs state huh( just a coincedence Im sure). And thats great that after my post the right winger fundamentalists on this thread still called me a democrat, Im not a democrat Im independent. Any way, when Tom ridge raised the risk level a month ago he stated that terrorists will likely try to plan an attack because of the up-coming election, stating that the madrid bombings where done to sway the election and oust the current president come election day. Now doesnt that tell you enough that they obviosly hate the bush family...............why am I actually discussing this with close minded individuals? Im not going to even finish this one, If bush is re-elected Im moving.

Carlos,
Independant is the new Democratic party. That's what they call themselves for two reasons. 1) They are ashamed to admit that they really are Democrats
2) They can't even commit to a party, they have to have waffling on that issue too. Liberals are deathly afraid of committment of any kind. If they commit then they can't change their minds on the issues when it suits them!

Free thinking is fine but we each have choices to make in life that matter. The problem today is that there is no commitment or loyalty, everyone just does what they want when they want.
For every action there is a reaction. If you were to start on a journey and travel in a zig zag would you get there faster than someone who has walked in a straight line?
In my opinion that is why liberals don't ever get anywhere, they commit to an agenda and then something happens they change the agenda over and over. Making a commitment on any issue takes faith and confidence.
(why do I feel like I want to call you Grasshopper now?) So ends my opinion on libs.
If we were all the same it would be a boring place to live anyway. Remember the old saying "if you don't stand for anything, you will fall for everything"

I don't classify myself as a liberal - OR a conservative for that matter. If you feel I must commit to a party, please let me know which one I should choose.
I'm pro-death penalty
I'm pro-choice
I'm anti-union
I believe prostitution should be legalized
I believe our drug laws should be relaxed.
I believe you should have to work to get welfare money
I believe there should be a universal healthcare system
I believe John Kerry is an idiot
I believe George W Bush is a bigger idot.
So, to which party should I commit?Last edited by bad_man; 06-16-2004 at 01:55 PM.

You are closer to a Republican than you think.
Pro death penalty +
Pro choice -
Anti-union +
Prostitution +/- even
Relaxed drug laws + (legalize it and tax it)
work for welfare +
Universal healthcare (fantasy for both sides)
Kerry is an Idiot +
George W. - (depth of character is underrated)
This give you 5 afirmative Republican and 2 affirmative Democrat votes with one tie and another being insane (universal health care)

Nope, my bet is if that same situation were to come up in another election, with the Grand Ole Party winning the popular vote and losing the electoral vote, the Dems will change their stance on that issue, to fit them...nothing unusual.
Since I'm on a political rant, I'll add this: It amazes me to no end for all the Democratic politicians to scream that they are looking out for the "little guy" and the middle class while hating big business and the rich, while THEY are part of the rich. When you think about it, you don't have to scratch your head very long to realize that they DON'T care about the little guy, or anyone else for that matter. If they care so much about the working middle class, then why do they raise taxes every **** time they get a chance? Of course more taxes means more government intervention (socialism) because there are a ton of lazy people who dropped out of high school who say they need "assistance". Why not ask John Kerry to just keep enough money to live on....say....$40,000 a year, like families that are struggling, and give the rest to the people that need it? I Don't think he would like that too much....and if I happened to find the American dream and make $1,000,000, I wouldn't want to be taxed out to gazoo either.
I do understand that there are people that go through rough times like losing their job and needing help to stay afloat....I have no problem with that. But constantly raising taxes on the people that actually "work for their money" in order to redistribute the wealth is not right.

...and as far as choosing which party you affiliate yourself with....look at the big picture and decide which groups and individuals carry similar morals and ideals as yourself.....
Here was my earlier thought on the subject....

If you think that you are more ignorant than the KKK. Real Christianity has nothing to do with their belief system. SV1 I thought you were smarter than that, disappointing.

Sv,
If being ignorant is a compliment then you are welcome. First of all, we are discussing a faith not the individuals that claim to espouse it. There are bad churches, bad "religious people, people that quite frankly turn my stomach but they don't represent the faith, look at the faith alone. I will agree that many "Christians" give the others a bad name, they talk the talk but don't walk the walk, preach to and condemn others, sin as much or more than non Christians so I understand your point of view. It is too bad you had a bad experience that has turned you away.
