It was. However Moore shouldn't have ran Naslund in the prior game. Total chicken sh*t move.

Secondly, Moore folded faster than Superman on laundry day. They punished the outcome...not the action. If Moore wouldn't have been hurt...Bertuzzi would have got a 10 minute penalty and a game misconduct.

It doesn't look like he got hit that hard honestly, it looks like more damage was done from his head hitting the floor and everyone landing on him to me. Does anyone know if the punch broke his neck or the fall?

He was pretty seriously injured...but...that's hockey! Bertuzzi was just doin his job...maybe a little too much emmotion from last game but dang..it happens.

It was a cheap shot but I don't think he meant to seriously hurt the guy.... your right though the fighting is part of hockey. Playing the sport you face the risks.

what the ****?or should i say what the asterics?? its hockey, players get caught up in the emotion and heat of the moment and do dumb, regrettable things..but if your going 2 charge a guy with assault for a cheap shot, what about everything else that would be considered a punishable offence off the ice? what about when lyle odeline took a slapshot at the opposing teams bench, or ****, when any 2 guys square off and fight?? or an intentional highstick/slash..are those considered assault with a deadly weapon?? jesus.
and what about bertuzzi?? he's gonna have a criminal record now? that means, he cant even enter the states!!! so what he'll only play home games now??? how ****ing ridiculous is this!!!

I think that its $hit as well.

I think that they are trying to make an example out of him so that this doesn't happen again.

I really like Bertuzzi until he pulled this. He took away a big chance for his team to win the cup when this happened. He should have known and let it slide until next year, when the playoffs and etc wasnt on the line. I'm glad that Iginla became such a big star during these playoffs. Gives kids someone else to look up to (not that Iginla was not a star before, just a bigger one know, imo)

I don't like the assault charge because it was part of the game. There are fights all of the time and the players do know there is a chance for them to get hurt badly. Look at all of the guys get charged into the boards this year. Thats bull**** as well. Noone gets charged with assault for that when guys get concussions. I think someone is going to die from these viscious hits on the boards. NHL Players union should start doing something about this. There has got to be some respect between the players.

The courts shouldn't be involved, it should be handled by the league, no doubt.

That said, it was unquestionably the WORST pussy-ass, from behind, cheap shot I have ever seen in any sport. For those that saw it, he cranked him from behind, solid, and then rode him into the ice with his forearm against the back of his head/neck. Retaliation is fine, part of the game, but I have no respect for a move like that.

Again, though, the law shouldn't be anywhere near this, they're opening pandora's box.
