For all that don't know, Team Canada and Team USA both advanced to the men's hockey semifinals.

CANADA vs BELARUS
USA vs RUSSIA

Canada definitely has the easier game, but Team USA has been the best team so far. I expect a Canada vs USA final, but I don't really care - as long as Canada wins. The final game will be 50 years to the day since Canada won their last olympic gold medal in hockey.

Friday the 22nd will be 22 years to the day that the 1980 USA Mens Hockey Team upset the Soviet Red Army in the semi-finals of Hockey during the Lake Placid games. Coincedentally the US plays Russia this friday

Both semi-final games are on Friday. The gold medal game is on Sunday.

The gold medal game for Womens Hockey is today, with the US women favored to defeat Canada. Even though Canada is 7 time world champs, they have a large group of youngsters and have been beaten by their US rivals in the past 8 staight games. The US Womens Hockey team have 90% of the core team that won the Gold at the 98 Olympics in Nagano.

Well Americans, it looks like your semifinal game might be easier than you thought. The Russians are threatening to withdraw from men's hockey to protest the Sale/Pelletier gold medal, and to protest the disqualification of a Russian Xcountry skier over elevated hemoglobin. Russian skiers have tested positive for EPO in the past, and this case isn't any different.

EDITORIAL: This is an embarrasement to Russians. In a majority of cases, an elevated hemoglobin level is the result of EPO use. They wish to protest this? I'd expect this from the East Germans of the 80's but not the Russians of 2002. As far as the pairs figure skating scandal, they're making themselves look worse! Everyone in the world knows that Sale & Pelletier won and that the Russian gold was the result of fixed judging. This makes Russians look bad in general, when in actuality its the fault of the Russian Olympic Committee and the Russian government. I HOPE THEY QUIT - Team Canada and Team USA have heart and deserve to play each other.
