Best piece of advice i could give ya, is to download the photoshop demo from www.adobe.com and go to www.good-tutorials.com and play with a couple of their tutorials, to be honest the best way to learn how to use that kind of stuff is to get stuck in

You also gotta have some kind of artistic talent at the base... The resulting work is only as good as the weakest chain link. (Meaning if you have a 30000$ piece of software but you're not artistic/creative/knowledgeable about it, it will still look like ****)
