    Pop Ups

Hey ya'll I just switched from dial up to cable and I am having a hard time with pop ups. A buddy of mine told me to purchase xoftspy to remove the adware/spyware and I did but the pop ups just keep on coming (I scan my computer regularly). I was also told that winmx makes money by advertising with pop ups so I got rid of that as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

At a bookstore the other day, I saw a book entitled "Sex for Dummies." Why would someone want to teach dumb people how to reproduce? Aren't there enough of them now?

those are both great!, just to let ya know. when spybot searches it will find the virus directory in the adaware software consequently making it useless. just use one or the other.

I can tell you a method I have been using since long time and it works perfect. First, pop-ups means simply you have visited a web site that runs a script and it modified your Windows registry. In another way, you PC has been HACKED. However, it is not harmful. They just collect information about the sites you visit and they use it for commercial purposes

Anyways, the best way is to create/activate the "guest" account on your PC, and always log in to your PC from that guest account. Never login as Admin. Because the guest account doesn't have permissions to install on the PC, it also has no permissions to modify the registry and hence no scripts can hack your operating system and you are almost always safe no matter what sites you visit

You will only need to use to login as admin when you need to install some new application on your PC. After you install it, logout and loging as guest and you can use the application as usual.

Of course you need to clean everything (I mean the current spyware) before you go for the guest account.

www.sureshotsoftware.com They have the best pop up blocker that i know of, They say you need to buy it. but i have never had too. been using it for awhile.. When they tell you that your time is up, they give you a password so you can extend it.. Also, if you delete it, they will let you install it again as if nothing was ever on your computer..
