Brown recluse. One of my buddy's in Basic Training got bit by one in his leg. Needless to say he didn't walk for the rest of Basic and still passed, lucky bastard. Well, his leg looked like shit and he has permanent nerve damage so I guess he wasn't all that lucky.

8 yrs ago I was visiting a friend in college and I passed out on his floor and got bit twice by a recluse on the face but they caught it in time so I didn't have any permenat damage.
Dr. said I was very lucky but the school had to evacuate the entire dorm hall so the exterminators could spray.
Needless to say I hate spiders!

http://www.snopes.com/photos/bugs/brownrecluse.asp some interesting info here.
I was bitten by a brown recluse when I was in 8th grade. Fortunately for me it was at school and the gym teacher knew exactly what kind of spider it was and had me sent to the hospital. My arm was swollen but never got that bad. It fully healed but I've been wary of them since.

Wow...that is horrid looking. Do you think it looks that bad now, b/c he didn't do something in time?

I seriously doubt that came from a recluse spider bite. Mine wasn't anywhere near that...Red and swelled up is all I got, but that looks more like a cobra bite to me.

at my old apt. complex two people were bitten by a brown recluse.. both bites started small but continually got worse, by the third day the bites were huge and it looked like the skin was dissolving away, much like in the first three pictures above.. the doctor said it was possible to loose a limb if they kept going untreated..
couples weeks later i saw one on my bed, in my comforter.. didn't sleep at my place for weeks.
mbaraso you were very lucky not to suffer permanent damage.. the doctor told them, if they were bit in the face and waited that long they would have suffered serious damage..

Also the long-term medical outcome is excellent without treatment."
