Check this out. This film is based on the manga based animé as stated. I believe that the actor playing Bunta Fujiwara looks a lot like the drawn version. I watched it and fell in love with the series after one DVD. I watched damn near all the other animé series episodes and the movie. If you like cars, you'll probably like this. Yes it's street racing, but we've all done it. It's about drifting. I used to only be into drag racing, but then I got into NASCAR, Arizona Outlaw Winged Sprint Car series and now drifting. It looks pretty cool. Only problem I have is that my size 11 boot won't let me heel-toe for a tight turn on a left hand drive car.

I just realized, this car is from the movie. AE86 Toyota Trueno. I'm not sure if I spelled it right though. In the cartoon, it was spelled Tureno on the grill.

The Inital-D movie was 1000x better than the anime. I hated the anime with a passion because it was so repetitive (like many other series in the same genre.) In fact, I never watched more than 3 episodes. The movie, however, was very entertaining even though it was highly predictable.

Another good anime turned real-life is Great Teacher Onizuka. Both the live-action series and the movie were very good, but so is the original anime. Who doesn't like watching cartoons about a perverted teacher?!
