starting own gym in UK - advice/help please...

James your an American right? What gyms have you been to?

So far Im findin it hard to get finance for the place I want. With it being £300k I can only get 85% of that so Id have to find the other 15% from somewhere!!

Im sure there are things called money angels and such that can help finance your business so gonna check those out

well looks like my plans out the window!!

Turns out, one of the guys who owns a small scale gym in my area is closing down. He has bought a cricket club right in the same area I was lookin at and is also buying all the equipment off the very big gym that has just closed down!!!!! To top it off - hes opening it up in 2 months time!!!

Basically, that was my whole idea!! Just what hes done!

back to drawing board!!

holy crap - is that how much capital you need to start up?

i have always dreamed of owning a gym but never knew where to start

I though about starting my owb gym up but the only problem i think will be that when i goto a bank for finance they will turn me down because there are something like 10 gyms in my home town. They are all rubbish though and focus to much on fancy equiptment and where free weight are available they dont go up very high.

But try explaining that to a banker.

yeah there are loads of gyms round my area too
most of them go out of business within a year - this is what puts me off
