Shoulder FUK
I strained my shoulder doing push ups yesterday
How long does it usually take to feel better doctor said to take at least a week off of the gym.
I've never had an injury before

Should be good in a coupla hours if I give you one of my therapeutic rubdowns
Sorry 'bout that, couldn't help myself - it's the test
Injuries are a bummer, hard to say how long really, JayHova gave me some really good advice recently when I hurt my back - hit him up.

Not that long considering you were doing pushups. It can't be any huge tear/strain as could happen with d-bells and such.

Well, RICE it. Raise, Ice, Compress, I can never remember what E stands for. Sorry. Ice it and squeeze the Ice on with an ace bandage. Do this like 15 minutes at a time for the first 24 hours. Then use a heat pad on it. If you don't have one, just stick a damp towel in the microwave for a spell, then put that in a plastic bag. Then put that in a another towl and wrap it around your shoulder.
Take a week off. Then get back into it real easy. Good luck, babe.

I get the impression you overexcerted your delts. More specifically maybe your front delt? Its probably innocuous. If you didnt really tear the muscle and/or tendons then 4-5 days off should be sufficient but one week is good. As previously mentioned the R.I.C.E technique is quite good. Actuallty the "R" is for Rest, Ice, Compression and "E" for elevation. The Ice is naturally for anti-inflammatory reasons but you are probably beyond that point(72 hours). For he****g a warm massage or shower/bath will do you good. Since your shoulder is higher then you heart, you dont need to do any elevation. My guess is thats its just a micro-tear.

oh the good ol shoulder pain. i learned to live with it somewhat. its the worst when i start. Once i get a good amount of water in me it tends to completely go away for the workout. Its nothing major...more of an annoyance to me.

how will legs put pressure on your shoulder?
-
02-19-2006, 06:27 PM #24
Leg press, shoulders bare some of the load as it becomes your base.
Hack squat, load is on the shoulders.
Squat, the bar on the traps, pushes down on the shoulders some what.
All caught up now, needsmorestrength.

Ligs and ulna? Pics, 'cause I'm lost. I do leg presses after I've hit squats, walking BB or DB lunges, curls, and straight leg deads. I do them on days I don't do extentions. My leg press back board is wide and tall. So it spreads the load from my lower back up to the top of my spine. On either side are my shoulder blades. When your shoulder is FUKed, pushing forward from the back of the shoulder hurts. Wasn't sure how tender Mizfit's injury was.
Got me now needsmo'?
Any way, how are you doin' Mizfit?

You can do squats with dumbells instead of a barbell. Works pretty well.
