Wow, I dont know about the cop shooting the dude in the head like that! He could of shot him in the hand or something.... but... if the cop did not shoot him, the guy would of shot the cop, so it was defense and it was justifiable, people need to stop looking at the cops as if they shouldnt use force, they cops need to be the ones in control.

Cops are trained to shoot to kill. PERIOD...Justified to me. He should have shot him sooner. don't fight with cops unless you want to get hurt or die..

Obviously if the guy didnt have a gun, he could of just tasered him. but, the oppurtunity for the guy to kill the cop was there, so...he chose to take a routine traffic stop into a gun fight with a cop, he deserved to die.

The guy got what he deserved. If he had the chance he would have killed the cop.. That sucks that a cop putting his life on the line is now being questioned..

And don't forget the cop has to deal with killing a man at point blank range for the rest of his life. Nobody won but the cop got to live another day...

A lawsuit!?!?!!?!?!?!!? That really pisses me off. If that kid had the chance he would have killed the cop. It stated that the kid had a gun and even fired it. Did I hear it wrong?

Quite a few of my friends and family members are cops. The dont get paid $hit and have to deal with things like this.

That's bull... there should be no lawsuit. The cop fired in selfdefence. If he didn't, the kid would have shot at him again.

I hope this gets thrown out of court, and the family gets nothing.

Agreed with all...by living in this country there are implied rules and ideas of police that we are expected to oblige..you attack a cop and attempt to hurt him, you are basically attacking the legal system for which he stands for, and in my mind, that means he has full authority to do what he sees as necessary to defend himself and that system.

I don't think the world will be any worse off without Mr Baker...

the lawsuit pisses me off too, would the cops family get to file a lawsuit against the driver if he DID kill him? i think not. and what an ignorant statement by the father" i dont care what the video shows, my son didnt have to die". so as long as his son is ok, it doesnt matter who has to be killed to ensure that?

Lets not forget the trial attorneys in all this...they are a life form that exists at a level lower than whale shit!! btw, cops are not trained to shoot to kill, they are trained to hit "center mass" that is the torso area, the reason for this is that the only reason for a cop to shoot is to stop the perp. The motive is never offically to kill, only to stop. Just conincidence that most vital organs reside in center mass Fvck the kid...he deserved to die!!

Yes, I think it is justified,

The officer was getting tired, after wresling with the guy for that long, he knew the guy was armed, he made the right choice.

    awesome point teabagger,

I'm glad to see that everyone on AR supports the police. My father is a retired policeman, and i'm glad he's retired, youth are getting increasingly more violent.

I hope the father takes it to trial and the judge says

"So you are trying to sue the state, because you raised a boy who had the desire to not only drive drunk, but then when getting asked about by a cop he tries to shoot and kill a police officer?"

It was quite justified... clear cut self defence.

If I were that cop I'd counter-sue the kids parents for having raised such a f*cktard kid!

It's great to see people who aren't shittin' on the police for a change! They go out and do a job that most people don't want to do for far less than they deserve. And damn straight...the kid needed to eat a bullet!

This really shouldn't even be up for debate. He fired his weapon at the officer, and after that, made no attempt to surrender it. He was in an on-going struggle at the time that the officer removed his weapon and fired into the suspects head. It may have been a different story if the kid was about to give up, but he clearly was still struggling to get a better shot on the officer. This world is ****ing amazing, people will find any reason to sue now days and its sickening. Anyone remember the parents of the guy in California who sued after he tried running over a bunch of off-duty cops and they shot him 26 times?

Thats what happens when you try to kill another man.
If the guy almost shoots the cop in the head, and then tries to shoot him again... the cop has every right to fire back. In the head is what saved the cops life... don't take chances like that trying to wound a man who tried to take your life. Every living animal's default programming is self preservation.

Where is that video where the cop pulls the guy over, and the guy has an AK, and the cop hesitated...? What happened to that cop... didn't he DIE? I think so.

Hearts are broken, yes, but thats the nature of the thing.. there isn't much "beauty" in things like this.
The guy had a gun and fired a shot, expect to be dead.

I'm very impressed with the members here. I think it's great to see people actually appreciate the police for a change and realize the daily risks that they take in an effort to uphold the law. I think it's so juvenile when people constantly complain about the police. It's a job that is thankless and underpaid. Great posts, everyone!!!!

It is justified. It happened at 1:47 A.M Sunday morning. At that time all Cops and Troopers on high alert because many people drive while they are drunk etc.
