in the movie wallace was some highlander with a kilt and a claymoor and maximus would have whupped him but in real life he was an anglo-normal nobleman who would have superior armor and weaponry and would probably slice maximus' legs or sword wrist and then run him through.

William Wallace was over 6'6, and is said to have weighed close to 250 lbs which in the 11th century was unheard of. He wielded a 6 foot long sword across his back and carried a 100lb shield, imagine seeing this guy in battle. Total bad-ass
