    Any Guitar Players here?

Bought a new guitar... my 4th... first guitar with humbuckers Not bad for 450 bucks... I have several strats too.

Right now my picking speed is lacking... I am having trouble when picking "between" two strings. Understand? anyways... does anyone know any tips for that?

A little more background... I've been playing since second grade, currently into country hot lickin'... practicing a few hours a day has already ceased to bring any progress... I need to learn new skills... practice is just emphasizing certain bad habits... maybe lessons are in order again... ive taken lessons a few times... each time for about three months... then a year to practice the info learned...

I currently play guitar for a metal band...got myself a Jackson V Randy Rhodes style......since we are very fast and heavy I play a lot of down strokes, I notice that sometimes the pump in the forearm of my picking hand prevents me from delivering exactly what I want....that means I'm not using enough of my wrist.....practice, practice,practice...technique is key

I'm 22, can already play several Vai songs in entirety... at about 3/4 speed do you guys know what i mean when i say picking between strings? lets see... skillwise, i can play 3 different scales in all positions on the neck at about 160 bpm... i think lessons are in order, cuz im stuck with tremolo picking over several strings (not apreggios)

Chromatic excercises will help you alot, use a metronome and slowly increase 5 - 10 bpm as you get more comfortable, after a while 180 bpm won't seem difficult at all...........TRUST ME.
Also Dream Theater and any John Petrucci licks will really improve timing and how fluid your motions on the neck are. I can send you some great practice stuff, might seem hard at first but will really help your skills!!!

Picking between strings is actually quite difficult, it takes a lot of practice...........personally, I feel like my pick is trapped and unable to escape, especially at high speeds.
