naw...it can happen from pressure direct to the ear or bending the ear ...some people are more suseptible than others. I have had people get it in there first 3 months of bjj... then there are people who never had it after years...

I've never seen anyone get it from a punch or bending of the ears. I never saw anyone get it real quick either....but then again I've never really noticed either.

ya, my pussy ass ears started to get it after like 3 months. but then i started to realize that it wasn't necessarily my ears but more my technique that was the problem.

Yeah cauliflower ear is a funny thing wrestled my whole life never got it at all though that was my mothers biggest concern "you know how ugly vegitable ear is?" is what she would always say. But I had a friend who joined his senior year and had to get his ear drained twice. It depends on alot of thing but some people just seem to be prone to getting it.

i've gotten hit with a bottle before, didnt hurt until the next day and left a huge knot, if the bottle broke on my head i would definitely have had staples
