43% of each gallon of gas is taxes! Quite frankly, Americans have it still pretty good when it comes to the price of gas compared to other countries and we can still drive around in our big gas guzzling SUV's or whatever. Go to just about any other country, hardly anybody drives big gas guzzlers, everybody either walks or takes public transportation..god forbid most fat, lazy americans walk anywhere or take public transportation. As someone that makes a living deciding where oil companies should drill wells, i dont think its too much to ask to pay $3 for a gallon of gas, when it takes millions and sometimes billions of dollars to go from the first discovery of oil all the way to the pump. Yet no one bitches about walking into the same gas station they paid $3 a gallon for and spending $1 on a 20oz bottle of Evian. Do the math and thats over $6 for a freaking gallon of water..and water is the most abundant resource on the planet!! Granted drinking water isnt as abundant, but im just trying to illustrate a point
