Does people slacking off at work piss you off?
I REALLY need advice on what to do here.
I work at a club and every saturday i am involved in the opening duties. i also have another guy who does the same job as I and shares part of the workload.
We work with a deadline - we start at 7 pm and must finish off at 9 30 when the club opens. Usually we will be done by 9, allowing me to eat in the between.
However yesterday i opened yesterday with this guy, Dave. Dave is VERY VERY lazy. He took 1 FVKING HOUR to do something that I could have done in 20 minutes. I kept my mouth shut... i knew this was going to happen because i have heard complaints about him from others who have opened with him. By the time he was done, i had finished setting up 4 bars, put bags in all the garbage bins, set the washrooms up, set the patio up, lay down the carpets and even finished a sandwich!
This guy then says, " Hey buddy" and i turned around to see something flying at me. I ducked and avoided it. He says ' it was a pen why didnt you cathc it. you're lazy.' I asked him what he did for the opening. He couldnt reply me.
Ar the end of the night we have to sweep up the area near teh front door. however people dont leave until after 2 45. This guy wanted to go out there to sweep it. He does his every week - he goes out there and eats a hot dog and then talks to the people while they all leave and then returns. By the time he returns there is no more work left for him to do because everyone else has already done the work.
Well this guy wanted to go out there at 2 30 and i told him not to go out there because there are people out there. He said 'o but i can sweep in the mean time' . i told him that i have seen him slack off' he says 'o you havent seen anything you re stupid' At this point i jus snapped. I yelled at him about how long he took to open. I told that if i see him slacking off again that i would hurt him. Despite this he kept saying things like 'you dont know what youre talking about.' I had to control myself from hitting him. I came very close to it.
His brother who is supposedly some european kickboxing champion also works with us. That is one of the reasons i didnt hit him.
I am afriad taht i may not be able to contain myself for the future.
ALso complaining to my managers will not work, because the managers believe taht we should settle our disputes within ourselves and they dont want to get involved. In the past my coworkers have complained about slackers only to get disciplined about TEAMWORK and how a team should settle its disputes without having to get others involved.
On a side note this guy is 150 lbs. He tells me about his sporadic visits to the gym where he works out his 'stomach' and arms. I ask him the question, 'what are your lifts?' or 'how much do you squat or bench or deadlift?" and he didnt know what i was talking about. He tells me that benching is bad for your shoulders.
He is going to do a cycle soon. One of thse bouncers is going to hook him up with some Dbol . I fiegned stupidity so see what he knew about this. I aksed him some questions like ,' is yours injectable or oral?'
Him: Injectables are too much for a first cycle. it goes staright to your blood it acts too fast. I m not ready for that. ( i almost burst out laughing, but i kept going)
I: oh i see. Dont steroids shrink your penis? And wont you get impotent? Or can you take something to reverse these sides?(remember, me acting stupid )
HIm:O no they dont shrink your penis. They shrink your balls. Once you stop it comes back to normal.
I have tried to tell him things about lifting in the past only to encounter criticism from utter ignorance.
I want to see him hurt himself. I know this is a bad thing. But someone who slacks off while everyone else is busting their ass working as hard as possible, i cannot tolerate.

I'd keep my mouth shut.
Atleast he makes you look like a better employee. Think of him as job security LOL
Some people at my work, are like that too, and i'm like why.. if he hussled he'd make us all look bad, by him suckin ass.... we look better..
Yup its scary, especially at a club, cause Safety is an issue.. but that is managements job not yours.
If management wants to risk everyones well being by keeping this guy on the staff, than they also risk a nice lawsuit by the rest of you guys if anything should happen.
Soon enough he'll start pissing other people off.. Just keep your mouth shut, and don't do managements job for them.
That manager of yours, is a dumbass, if anything real bad happens, will be the first fired with his attitude imo.

i can see waht you mean pooks.
In the past peoples laziness has not affected me so directly though, because i rarely opened with the lazy guy. But the thing is this guy may not get fired because his brother does work with us as well... as a bouncer, though.

It's too bad that your managers is not doing their respective jobs. A manager should be someone who you can feel comfortable talking to, especially when it comes to job performance.

Anything u say to anyone about his laziness. is going to get back to him. People's reactions usually to that is "he doesn't like me, and he's a backstabber, rat" and hidden anger..
u'd be opening a can of worms imo not worth doing.

You may not like this but.....this may be a great opportunity to self-reflect. The meditation should focus on the question "why am I so preocupied with this guy?" From there it becomes, how do I regain my center (or your sense of perspective - this keep priorities straight and brings balance). You have your agenda he has his and differences is what makes life interesting. Your work habits are very different and you and he are very different and that's just life and life is good! Stop torturing yourself. No need to be the masochist. Life will wound you on it's own soon enough. Just say no matter what, "it's all good." That's the life affirmative attitude.
That's also the Jamaican attitude. If you're not following this message than I suggest the following: Listen to Bob Marley, his songs, his lyrics. If you need suplementation in the Rasta fashion, than find some special herbs (disclaimer: herbs can be used to induce an appetite when using Anabdrol 50)! That will bring you a sense of peace! Mellow out! "Lighten up yourslelf" - Bob Marley.

Don't I feel stupid. I missed your point. Perhaps I'm too busy inducing that peaceful mindset that Bob Marley and the rastas do. Yeah, fighting those bad sides from A-50 can be tough, even when you're not taking A-50 and focusing on the remedy for it, namely herbs (disclaimer: Herbs encourage eating in general so it's good for bodybuilding in that sense). Hweeew. Ok. We should be ok with the rules. I work with them lest I irritate Carlos.

Yeah, don't mind my off topic style. Anyway, grass can help the appetite. No argument there.

Next time, arange something with your manage.. liek running an arrand...
be like "hey if you needed me to go to the store to buy some supplies, i can do that. I just gotta open the patio, lay the rugs, do trash cans, (and a few other things so he knows you did work) then ill run to pick up what ya need."
Then when your manager says "yeah thats cool bro", you do your half of the work, tell your manager "hey i finished doing the blah blahs, im going to run to the store, and the Dave can finish up the rest, it shouldn't take that long."
then go to the store.
Then when you get back, when nothing is done, and your manage, says "why weren't we ready to be opened?!?! AHHH!" you say "i did tasks, and went to the store like you asked. I don't know why the other guy didn't do anything"
He should get the hint.

ive gotten a lot of useful ideas from you guys thanks!
I know it mustve take nyou long to read all my babble.
It was also suggested to me in anotehr forum was to make a list of things to do and divide it among us evenly (for opening duties, especially) so that way teh work is fairly distributed and that way if someting isnt done, we can see whose responsibility was behind its completion.
on a side note if i was on cycle, i wouldve killed by th third week. THis is because by the third week you should know what to do, its not a hard job and the jobs are not numerous by any means).

i didnt have the patience to read what you wrote but i can say as much as everyone bitches at work for other people being lazy bastards... they are lazy bastards too 99% of the time. I mean some are lazier than others, but all humans are innately lazy (or all americans) which is why we have things like cellphones, the internet, microwaves, fastfood, etc... to make things easier. and as lazy as you think someone else is, a lot of times thier reality is "im busting my ass.. you just want me to work harder so you dont have to". but yeah i think i get your point even though i was too lazy to read what you wrote. lol.

I worked in a computer chip factory, and my managers liked the way I worked so much that they made me a supervisor. I then took it upon myself to round up my people when they wandered away from the work area and tell them to get back to work. Well, they complained to my boss and to his boss about it (yes, they admitted they were goofing off, but that they didn't like me telling them to get back to work), and before long, I wasn't a supervisor anymore. I was back to what I had been doing, only this time I quit taking care of the production machines of the folks who went goofing off. Then, my boss came to me bitching about how I should be taking care of all the production machines, even the ones assigned to the goof-offs.
Ya, sometimes you end up with lousy managers who won't (or can't) manage effectively, and even though you may do a phenomenal job, they're too screwed up to see what's going on, and you don't get the credit you deserve. In these situations, there ain't much you can do . . . a dumb-ass manager is always going to be a dumb-ass manager. Yours sound like they don't want to make sure things are getting done, and they obviously don't care to exert themselves to find out who gets the credit for doing what.
You have some lousy managers . . . I'd recommend that you flee, and go someplace that will appreciate your efforts.
