Anyone ever smell something and it brings back a long forgotten memory?

Ok, yer gonna think I'm a wacko, I don't know how to desrcibe this any better....

I was just sittin here and outta nowhere, I smell this weird scent that totally reminded me of when I was a little kid outside and my friend threw my he-man toy at me and hit me in the nose........weird. My eyes started watering too.

This kinda thing has happened to me more than once before though. I remember my GF had strawberries out while I was eating chicken and when I smelt those two together, it reminded me of when my gramma cooked diner for me when I was like..I must have been 6 or so.

years later, a doctor will tell me I have an IQ of ten and am what some people call "mentally retarded".

Haha, just kiddin about the last part but, the other stuff I was serious.

Anyone else experience this?

Of course, I am sure this happens to everybody. There are smells that still remind me of when I was five years old.

Oh yeah, I get that feeling everytime I smell winerfresh chewing gum. It reminds me of when I met my first girlfriend because she always chewed it.

I love the smell of orange blossoms. It always reminds me of my grandparents home in Florida. It is where I live now, but when I first moved here I had that same experience.

The smell of fresh plastic reminds me of Legos and my first video game counsol, Nintendo.
Warm used trans oil reminds me of my grandfathers shop, burnt trans mission oil reminds me of my Junior year of high school at vocational school.
Channel No. 5 reminds me of when my mom used to go out on the town with my dad, and I was left with the baby sitter.
It also reminds me of this HHHOT asian chick at my work. Lylah was her name. Three kids, but you would sware it never happend from looking at her. MILF!

Actually just the other day I smelled this ladies perfume as she walked by and it reminded me of a girl I dated in Russia when I was a teenager. It was an eery feeling.

out of hundreds of ice rinks i visit, every once in a while i walk into one where the ice smells just like my home rink. kinda weird but instantly brings me back to when i was a kid and it used to be all about fun. i love that feeling.

I think you may need some Nolva to get your estrogen levels back down.

Actually I read in a book once that said crayons have the most recognizable smell on earth. To smell them takes most people back to their childhood memories and it has even been proven to lower blood pressure.

Now that I think of it, crayons may actually be an important item when doing a cycle to keep the blood pressure down.

Tis the smell of the ol' tulips in the garden that bring me back to the lovely quaint home on the rolling hills and valleys of Aquilonia from whence I sprung. I get that all the time. Sometimes it will give me a flash back of something I didnt even remember happening, then I will be like holly shit I forgot about that.

Whenever I smell pear perfume it flashes me back to dating my X dina. Or tommy girl of my x carrie.

O man totally, I get it all the time, especially from songs. Alot of songs have a distinct image in my head to certain time and place no matter how many times i listen to it somewhere else.
I guess its good to hold on to found memories, but at the same time make you miss those memories more

Smell is the human sense that is most directly related to memory. This is why you can see an actor and not place what movie they are in, but you can smell a perfume and immediately think of an ex-girlfriend from 10 years ago.

I get this especially if I listen to the album And Justice For All.... Flashes me back to the summer when I was 17 and all we did was party drive around in my mini van. get high and listen to that album. It was a great summer. Now I am old and boring.

i get that all the time, i like things like that. but, i sometimes evoke a memory without a stimulus, and i mean the most random memories aswell. il be eating, watching tv, walking, anything really, and suddenly the memory of sitting in a friends house about 8 years ago just pops into my head, or something similar. now that, i wonder about

Every time I smell beer It reminds me of my freedom I once had.

My chick hates it when I have even one beer. She thinks im going to get drunk and beat her or something because her ex was a raging alcoholic.
