usually a school has a deadline to drop classes. ive never heard of being able to replace the F with a new grade. ive heard you can retake the class because anything lower then a C- wouldnt count towards your major requirement(my college) but both grades would stay in your GPA.

Always check first with the Registrar. I got screwed by an out of date version of the Student Handbook on my college's website. I thought I could have an Incomplete/F dropped that I had for an independent study. I didn't verify with the registrar, and by the time I did check the time limit to complete the Incomplete had expired, the policy was rescinded, and I was stuck with the F.

you can retake the class next semester and have that grade removed. It will still show on your transcript but not calculated into your Gpa. Unless you are trying to go to MEd school. If you are trying tog o to med school, they calculate EVERY grade you have ever taken in your college life

No way man. Some professors I've had have significantly increased my final grade because I blew the final away. At least give it a fair chance. And even though I bombed that one class, I still got out with a 3.2. And I was a transfer student, so I didn't have 4 full years classes to dilute it out more. If you settle down a bit and get back on track, you can make amends for it.

i think it depends on which school you are going to. for example, if you are going to stanford, you can drop the class 30 seconds before the final and it wont show up on your record at all, cause you pay so much money to attend that school. its different at other schools though

Some schools will replace the old grade with the new grade and other schools will take the average of the two grades, I've even heard one school that did a 2/1 score.... the better score x2 + the bad score. The schools I've been to just replace the grade.

We are allowed like 3 academic forgivens or something if you make like lower then a C you can re-take the class and have the otherone dropped.

I've heard of freshman forgiveness of like Psycho said a certain amount of "academmic forgivens". I wouldn't sweat it too much bro unless you plan on going to a competitive grad school

My school if you took the class when you were under 50 hours you can retake it anytime and the first grade will be replaced with the second
