paying tax when you buy a car ?

i bought a jeep a few months ago and i have to registare the jeep tommorow, i paid like 12gs for the jeep tax in texas is 6.25% so thats 12,000g's x .0625 which is more than i can spend right now so i can put down a diffrent amount on the paper with no worries right ? say i put down like 1,000 bucks i mean people do this all the time right, my friend works at a BMW dealership and says he sees it all day long on new BMW's so anyone ever done this, i mean the Govt is not gonna do a back ground check on 12,000 thay got bigger fish to frie..

i recently bought a bike for 4500 and went down to the DMV to register it. I told them i paid $100 for it and they said yea right and looked up the blue book of the bike. So they try to make me pay 5% of the blue book and i said no. The guy told me if i get a notoriety form and fill it out, and have the seller sign it then i'd be good. So just forge the guys signature you bought the bike from and you'll be good.

You can do it Myka of course its wrong to do but if i can save 600-700 dollars then by all means im doing it. people do this all the time when they buy a motor vehical that has to be registared like a car, boat, motorcycle ect...to save money on tax's

When you type the VIN# in on a computer at a car dealership it will bring up all the info on the vehical including how much in was registared for, my friend works at a BMW dealership and says he sees it all the time on new BMW's comming in for trade, its really not a big deal.

You can do it but you have to be realistic. If you buy a 12k Jeep you can say you paid 1k for it. They are not stupid and will say something.
If you say you paid 7k for it is it worth it to save 300? Where did you buy it from? Because if it was from a dealer there will be records.
I have done it before. But on cheaper objects. A Jeep is a popular vehical they know what they are worth

you can get away with saying you paid a different amount but dont go overboard. the price has to be something realisitic. also, get the previous owner that you bought it from to write a letter stating how much you paid and have him sign it. show that to the dmv is they question you. ive done it before and it works in NJ. trust me, texas cant be worse than NJ when it comes to anything involving autos.

I....I mean somebody I know did the same shit few years ago when they bought their ride. They told them they paid 2k for it, when it cost about 4k which was already well below blue book value.
