Sleep Apnea do you have it?
I just got diagnosed with sleep apnea. They ordered me a cpap machine that supose to helps me breath better when I am a sleeping. I guess I have had it for years. I just thought I snored real bad and was tired all the time. The Doc tells me If I sleep 8 hours only about 3 to 4 hours is "good sleep". He said it would have had a bad affect on my work outs and muscle rebuilding. He said most people have a hard time getting through there day let alone working out. I hope the machine works and I recoupe better and sleep better. He said that lots of weightlifters, football players, bodybuilders, and power lifters get it. He also said that the size of your neck could cause it. So if any of you guys think you might have it go get checked out. It might make the difference you where looking for.

Better you caught it now rather then when you get older you'll be alright just don't become dependent on sleep aids and learn how to relax on a naturel level.

Man I did a web search and sleep apnea is some seriuos shlt! Check out all these symptoms!
Warning signs and symptoms of sleep apnea are:
Frequent cessation of breathing (apnea) during sleep. Your sleep partner may notice repeated silences from your side of the bed.
Choking or gasping during sleep to get air into the lungs
Loud snoring
Sudden awakenings to restart breathing
Waking up in a sweat during the night
Feeling unrefreshed in the morning after a night’s sleep
Headaches, sore throat, or dry mouth in the mornings after waking up
Daytime sleepiness, including falling asleep at inappropriate times, such as during driving or at work
Lethargy
Rapid weight gain
Memory loss and learning difficulties
Short attention span
Poor judgment
Depression
Personality changes

My mom has it and she has to sleep with some tube hooked up to her so she doesnt snore at night which is bullshit if ya ask me. They should be able to come up with something better than that to take care of it.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea 6 years ago. I use a CPAP machine at night. I am a helluva lot more rested since I got my machine. I even take it camping (really long extension cord) it just smells like campfire for a few days.
The CPAP mask takes a while to get used to and your sleeping partner might find it amusing to look at, but they will appreciate the quiet night (no snoring).
So far the only treatments are positive pressure (CPAP), Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (removing all soft tissure in your throat) and Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy (what SMAN12B had done).
There was some experimental treatment in California using microwaves to heat up the soft tissue and cause it to scar up (scarring tightens up the tissue and it's less floppy to get in the way of air exchange) but I haven't heard anything about it in a while.
I myself am going to wait it out. I don't like the predicted success rate of the surgical procedure out there now. 50%..........not good enough for me

How does one get checked/diagnosed with this? I know that my wife says i snore occasionally but maybe she doesn't hear me all the time cuz she's usually louder

Well you have to get what is called a sleep study. They hook all these wires all over your body. You look like something out of a sifi movie it really sucks. Then you have to go to sleep. They try to make it as comfortable as possible. They monitor everything! They can tell you how many times you moved your eye muscles while you where sleeping in a 8 hour period. How many breaths you take, how many times your heart beats, blood oxogen level ect...... If for some reason you can't fall a sleep you have to go back to do it again. It is not fun, but it was worth it finding out why I am so tired all the time.

I had to do two sleep studies...one without the CPAP and one with it (to prove that it will work)

i have a sleep study tomorrow night thank god. but right now i cant go to sleep because my body does NOT want to breathe. i go to sleep and it stops breathing. so my body dumps adrenaline in it and i wake out of it, i dont know if this warrants going to the ER as it happened before as well but its very scary. these nights are not often but they do occur sometimes. most of the time i can sleep anytime but wake up tired and my days are always shitty and tired. ALWAYS.

actually what i think really caused this to happen tonight, is the fact that i inhaled (seemed like alot) of that vic vapor rub crap but a generic brand. that had an amphetamine like effect. everytime i would nod off, i would wake up with my heart pounding/gasping for air. i know i have sleep apnea but i think this inhalant caused me to not be able to go back to sleep tonight. so im sitting here, its going to take hours to go away. and my sleep study is tomorrow night. im not supposed to nap at all. and napping is as mandatory to me as eating is when dealing with this sleep apnea shit.

lately (the past year or so) everyday i read more about how i damaged my body from taking gear. funny how during the past 6 years when actually doing it, i never read such things about side effects. or i might have but didnt know what they were and must have ignored it completely.

i have another thread about tren e that i took almost 2 years ago that i still havent completely recovered from. it permanently (or seems like it) bloated my face with progesterone or something (because my prolactin came back low from last weeks blood work). it lowered the intensity of my orgasms, meaning i had much better feeling when i climaxed, lets see...it exacerbated my sleep apnea (im 99.9% sure i have it)...alot of others i wont mention. the cons just outweighed the benefits ten fold in every aspect of life, including legal.

I went to the specialist yesterday and he took one look with the camera's and decided to go straight to surgery, he isnt even bothering with the Sleep Apnia study. So in two weeks I go under the knife and then ten days of agony. God life sucks !!!

My doctor looked at my tonsils and sent me to Ear nose and throat. The ENT DR looked at them and said they were fine. They also took xrays of my airway and said I was all good.
