Anyone ever get treated negatively for being a bodybuilder?
I would expect many a yes because there are plenty of haters out there. I've got negative feedback by strangers. At Bally's a few years ago, three MILFY chicken heads walked by while I was on the treadmill and I hear one go "look at him all steroided up with the attitude." First of all, I wasn't juicing. Secondly, I was just running. How can one detect an attitude from a person jogging? Clearly she assumed an attitude because "bodybuilders must have "tudes." Anyway, I've experienced other "tudes" directed at me hear and there (not too often) but it's interesting that it happens in light of the fact that people who know me say that I present myself in a down to earth way. Those damn bodybuilding bigots!

I get it all of the time. People give me attitude for no reason and I am a very nice guy. I get it the worst from gay men. It's like instant attitude from them.

i have never noticed anyone being negative towards me because of my "muscles" and i've never been called a roid head or anything like that but i can see why some people hate on someone with a body like they wish they had. i think their negativity just reflects what kind of person they are and they just don't have the dedication and dicapline to achieve the look they want so they are jealous of someone for doing what they won't do.

People generally expect me to be stupid because of my muscles. It is the stereotype that bothers me the most. The bigger I get, the stupider I must be. I am not sure why these go together, but they seem to with most of the people I work with...

at home - i m told i shouldnt eat so much because im getting fatter - according to my parents. ALso im told not to eat all my 'powders' (whey, casein, creatine) becasue supposedly theyre making my farts stink, ok then
at work - im told that all my work to get huge (ALL OVER MY BODY) is completely useless because people only see your upper boduy. When i tell them its for the sake of being even and that legs are the strongest and its a perosnal prefernce i get some equally stupid comment like 'o but you can just do cardio to make them big'. Im told that whey protein makes me fat and that i should stop. I m told that i shouldnt eat the way i do (every 2 hours taht is) because im being greedy.
miscellaenous
girls have told me that they find huge guys disgusting - they should stop lying becasue theyre the first ones to feel off my chest and arms
ive been told that all the brains have migrated from my head and into my muscle because i come off as arrogant and immoral - ok get this straight - i was that way BEFORE i started working out. Telling me crap like 'when you get married looks don't matter anymore' is going to met with harsh remarks.
thank god my friends are mostly bodybuilders

I don't really consider myself a bodybuilder. People will always have something to say so i just let it go in one ear and out the other. Fvck anybody who talks shit or does not agree with what we do.

i get a lot of negative comments all the time, usually from random people out never at the gym though. But for every bad comment i hear i hear 2-3 good onews, so i take the good with the bad.
The Bad....At the Red Sox game, a guy drove by and said "got Juice" then wouldnt get outta his car to repeat it ...
The Good...After church a little boy, prooly 8yrs old, asked my girlfriend if i was the wrestler batista

It happens all the time no matter where you are .. It's funny that most of the people making comments are the one's that read every BB magazine and want so bad to look like that .. than they see someone that does and there first words are hey takes the "STUFF" they just hate who they are so bad they need to feel better about them by putting others down and i might add copy your work out .. LOl the same people that cant understand why they work out and get no where when the fact is you cant eat a pizza and go an extra 15 on the tread mill and work it off Just haters brotha

you know what? i get nothing but compliments. over the years i have probably had less that 5 negative remarks from strangers. i can only think of 2 instances, which i was still very flattered by (one being an old woman turn to her husbanmd and ask 'why anyone would do that to themselves', check my avvy, im clearly not at freakdom level just yet. and another was a female rugby team sat at a restaurant, and as i walked down the street from the gym, they started a steroid chant lol) apart from that, i always get positive comments from strangers. could be the sawn-off shotgun im constantly carrying around and pointing at children, just for fun

I've gotten negative, positive and dehumanizing treatment out of the gym. I think it's dehumanizing, for example, when a guy or gal totally gawks at you at the beach. I usually get this when I get ultra lean. I would never do this to someone - it's so rude - you feel so objectified. I don't like that kind of attention so I often where loose fitting clothing so I can just blend in. I don't stand out as much in a hard core gym like Gold's but when I used to train at Bally's I felt like a "thing." I'm less sensitive to this now than past times - my skin has thickened at bit. Better to have that "**** you" attitude and just avert your eyes between sets.

I get steroid comments from girls when I go out, dirty looks and comments whispered behind my back from one of the pharmacies that I buy pins at, bizarre looks when I order food at a restaurant, the occasional comment or look from check-out people at the grocery store and bitchiness from the sales girls at clothing stores since it takes forever to find jeans and shirts that fit me properly.
