I think the problem is with the gas, not enough power and when you let go of the clutch and the car starts moving you take ur foot off real quick.
Untill you master it, take ur time and practice in a back road or something.
Release the clutch a bit till you feel the car barely moving, increase the pressure on the gas a bit and slowly but not deadly slow, remove ur foot from the clutch and increase the gas either at the same or faster tempo.
Practice makes perfect.

Just release it slowly till you hear the engine calm down and the car barely moving, then apply the gas lightly and slowly continue releaseing the clutch.
Go to a back street, stop the car completly, then move till u go to second gear, then stop again, repeat 20 times or till you get it right.
Then go to a semi or low traffic street and try it (because pressure, anxiety and the pressure to succeed from people behind you can cause you to fvck up)
So take it one step at a time and you'll get it.
or do whatever works best and is easiet for ya.

More gas, smoother on the clutch.

Make sure at this point your still letting the cluch out slow. If you just lest it go at the point is when it will hop jerrk and shit like that.

At that time you can then let it out 100%

So when you hit first gear, the car is kinda popping up and down and really nutty right? Thats because your giving it too much gas before you let the clutch out and then hitting the gas pedal continously and not too smoothly, try letting the clutch out alot later when pushing the gas in. thats my best guess.
i know on my mustang, the catch point is with hardly any gas because if its any further, the torque will spin threw the gear.

I've driven standard my whole life and it's really a question of feeling that clutch...
The key to it all is to make sure you let go of the clutch SMOOTHLY and you give it gas SMOOTHLY. Don't pop the clutch, and definetly don't mash the gas!
Basically as others have said, let go of the clutch slowly and feel it grabbing, as it grabs, smoothly give it more gas (while you smoothly keep letting the clutch go).
It's like doing a virgin for the first time You gotta be smooth and attentive

He he he I'm sure he'll have fun doing that once he learned how to drive standard
I went thru several sets of tires doing that stuff when I was younger but I've mellowed out a lot in my ripe old age

When you have the clutch down all the way, just let it out slowly and meet the gas pedal half-way. You will get the feel for it.

Go trade it in on a automatic.
