the fact is that you even asking this question demostrates a little distrust, which in my eyes is ok, becuase your looking out for number one yourself. Have you approached her and asked why she talks to this dude?

Edit her IM preferences to save all IM convos and read it when she's not on the computer. At least you will know if you have something to be jealous of. If you don't find any thing leave her alone and let her chat.

Depends on where you stand in your relationship with her. If you have a healthy relationship, then it's cool. If not, then you might have an argument.

One thing that you'll have to accept is the fact that your girlfriend will and probably already does work or go to school with members of the opposite sex. If you can't trust her on an IM service, then how in the world do you let her out of your sight?

Good point. When she makes small talk with guys I would get pissed as well

haha. its just chatting guys. dont really mean anything. i actually hate girls that dont talk to other guys just cause theyre in a relationship. you could just ask her if shes seeing anyone else. that would prolly catch her off gaurd.

Just act like you don't care even if you do care. Maybe they really are just friends and she gets a kick out of seeing you mad or jelous about it. It would bother her more if you don't care. Just don't care and see what happens, she will probably say why don't you ask me who i'm talking to and what i'm doing anymore, or why don't you care. Kill her with kindness and just don't care so much, if she is doing it right in front of you i wouldn't worry so much. If she is being shady and sneaky then that's a different story.
