audi's are real nice but dont know what you can get for 16k. What about a VW?
-

im a bit apprehensive about the audi due to the high costs in repairs if something were to malfunction

AUDI is the way to go!
Trust me i know from experience.. i just bought a 2006 Tiburon, and guess took a girl to a date, and her ex drove like a 2000 audi whatever model, he had nice rims on it too tho... it didnt really matter much, but i thought to myself, that AUDI ****in is tight, my car is shit lol

I have an 00 max and I love that car man. Standard with all options....my favorite car. I'd go with a newer model maxima though for 16k.

I had a 1996 Mazda MX6 M edition and it was an awesome car. It was an older two-door version of the Mazda 6.

FOr 16,000 you'd be surprised how nice of a car you can get. If insurance isnt an issue, I would DEF get the Audi. If you do some research, you can find a 2000 BMW 3 series for around that price or maybe a Nissan 350z

audi....

Mazda 6 series
Nissan Maxima
Honda Accord
Audi A4
BMW 318(or any 3 series)
VW Passat, or Jetta
Volvo S70
Mitsubishi Gallant
If you are looking for a more sporty 4 door, you should be able to find:
Dodge SRT4
Subaru STI
Mazda RX8 (although I wouldn't recomend one as a DD because of engine recalls with the Renesance motor)
My pic would be the Audi A4, BMW 3 series, or the SRT4, but I like to mod cars and autox on the weekends.

Last I checked, parts for foreign cars were much more expensive than similar parts for american cars. If you don't intend to keep this car for long, then this probably won't be an issue for you. But if you do plan to keep it for a while, and think you might eventually need spare parts, then you might want to look at some american cars . . . Look at the ratings Consumer Magazine gives to various cars, go from there.

Resale value on American cars is horrible though. Imports (except Korean) cars hold a stronger resale value than their American counterparts.

yea
i want foreign car thats reasonable to repair ie
honda
nissan

Subaru is nice, but unless you live somewhere that you would use the awd they are not that great. The base models are underpowered, and the interior is full of plastic. Still great cars though.
Nissan is in a market slump right now, and has expected sales within the next two months to boost sales. If you can hold off for alittle while, I'd look at a Nissan.
Lincoln LS is a great American car to look at. RWD, and V8 optional. It uses the same frame as the new Mustang, T-bird, and Jaguar S-type. You can find a used model easily within your price range.
What type of a drivetrain are you looking for? Automatic or manual? RWD or FWD or AWD? Are you planning on modding the car at all or leaving it stock? Are you looking for a sportier handling car, or looking for a softer smoother ride? How much do you drive, is it mostly highway or city driving? Are you going to be driving your car through snow, or only sun and rain?

Mitsubishi evolution mr fq 340 0-60 4.5 secs.
Both in your price bracket.

perfect, the STI and EVO are around 33,000 new.
I would say audi A4 if you can get a nice one (clean with low miles)
If you don't mind something a little cheaper, I would say a WRX (used) are fun cars to drive.
Or save up and buy an S4

I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima as my workhorse car and it gets 26-28MPG. It's got a 225HP motor and it's quiet as can be. Great car. I highly recommend a Maxima.

I didn't mean new. get them on 04 plates. The subaru forrester STI is pretty cool too. 4*4 light off roader but still 0-60 under 5 secs. Litchfield imports has some great stuff including there infamous type 25 impreza which features uprated 2.5 litre turbo charged lump.
