    Any Maiden fans out there!

When I was a teen in the eightees, I was big into the metal scene. One of my favorite groups was Iron Maiden. I remember it was a common view - that picture of the maiden mascot "Eddy" on a stoner's jean jacket. Although I'm not a big fan of metal anymore, till this day, I can still listen to Maiden and I often do to pump myself up for a grueling leg session. I love their speed and I love Bruce's operatic voice! They are coming to the Nassau coliseum this thursday and I'm going to go which I'm excited about. I haven't been to a concert in over a year (the last one was the pixies who are a cool grunge band). Maiden baby! Maiden!

After all i'm a rocker and i do rock hard, rock free but sometimes it's quite hard becuase i have a fear of the dark, but i'm always cuaght somewhere in time deciding while im dealing with the Jugulator

If is a matter of life and death i would marry Eddy, though

I used to like em but I got more and more into heavier and heavier music.

My musical taste evolved pretty much like this:

    led zeppelin
    aerosmith
    iron maiden
    metallica
    pantera
    slayer
    deicide
    dying fetus

with progressively less range of talent as you get heaiver

nahhh i wont generalize but some heavy bands rely on pure power chords and that just pisses me off

guitar solos and voclas with good range and drums and bass riffs to a lesser extent are essential to me

Oh no dude, dying fetus, cephalic carnage, those are some of the most technical deathmetal/grindcore bands out there. No simple, slow riffs at all. A lto of arpegios and shit, its crazy.

I agree with you on that. On the other hand, there's something to say about the simple, raw, and the heavy. But in terms of musicianship, Zep and Maiden are respectworthy.

although Bruce's voice isnt what it used to be; when he tries to hold a note it seems a bit 'strained'

i prfer his no prayer for the dying voice

I've never seen them live so this is a first time. Actually, I did see them live (on VH1 I think) and they sounded great. They have shorter hair and they look a little matured but damn, that bruce can belt! Yeah, I'm definately looking forward to the show. It's been a while since I've seen a good concert.

I, like Skullsmasher, went heavier. Started with stuff like early Anthrax and Metallica (whom I can't stand now) and moved on to Pestilence, Death, Deicide, Bolt Thrower (my faves at the moment) and everything inbetween. I was never a fan of Iron Maiden, I always thought of them as a bit of a joke, BUT I do like their new album. There are one or two quite good songs on there.

I haven't heard their new stuff. I like their old stuff though. I love that song from powerslave...."you die as you live in a flash of the blade....one man and his honer! I still think he has his voice. At least I thought so from footage of a recent live concert.

not really as aerosmith is by far the wrost band on that list.. even metallica (who suck) i wouldn't say just rely on power chords, although power chords are going to be an important part of any band that uses heavy distrtion. those minor seventh chords don't exactly sound as good with the volume set to 11 lol.

btw hallowed be they name is the best hard rock song eva.
