I plan on getting a business degree along with my software engineering degree.

What would be the best to go for? Like an MIS(managment information systems)?

i agree. im not an engineer yet let alone an architect but from basic engineering knowledge and basic carpentry i built a house this summer....my gf's dad is a contractor not an architect and he designed/built his entire house. and he's far from college material....it doesnt take an architect to do all that there is with construction. i dont know to many people that had an architect draw up a 30x50 detached garage....they just say this is what they want and the contractor designs it. usually on graph paper lol some of the stuff is just basic understanding and common sense i dont believe architects are anymore engineers than an engineer or even a carpenter. a carpenter might not be able to tell you distribution loads or moments of inertia but i dont konw to many architects that know how to frame an entire house....

Its completely asinine comments like this that got me on this soapbox to begin with...

Everyone has basic knowledge about everything. Shit, I could sit here all day and tell you about shooting a gun, but that doesn’t mean I can walk into Iraq and expect to live for more than 24 hours.

You don’t know many people that use architects because you live in world where construction consists of a trip to home depot and buying a new pair of gloves and a hammer. If you were to build LAX without a set of plans you'd be f#cked.

Are you kidding me about architects not knowing how to frame a house? God, what the hell do you think architects do? Draw fancy pictures? I detail everything on a plan so you can figure out how tell build it. From where to put a steel beam to the nail size in a drywall panel and how many inches on-center. I could tell you how to frame the Petronas Towers in Malaysia (once the tallest building in the world, fyi) because that is what is expected of an architect.

Bro, I understand what your trying to get at, but give yourself a chance.

go frame houses for a while and tell me that you dont have to correct architects mistakes. some of the shit they come up with looks great on paper but isnt practical when you're constructing something. i cant even think how many times a house has been drawn by an ARCHITECT and they didnt acount for plumbing chases or hvac. maybe i deal with morons i dunno. and i still am willing to bet the architects i know couldnt physically frame a house. they dont know the trade.. but this argument is retarded architects are engineers regardless how you look at it they each have their own place.

Correct, my friend, architects make many mistakes.
I have framed a house or two. My father is a general contractor. I understand plumbing and HVAC and elect. and all the various trades very well.

Youre right, this argument is retarded and everyone has their own place. Good luck, if you choose to be an engineer, you are going to be in a very good place.

I have a BSEE and really dont use it. I wound up joining a construction company as a project engineer and am currently a construction manager. I couldn't handle the constant desk work as an EE, and this is a perfect mix between driving a desk and being in the field. Plus the pay is better than the average EE salary. However, if I had it to do over again, I would have been a civil with a focus in structures. Or gone to a school that would allow me to focus in Power Systems, and go build power plants.

    C/O

Great rhetoric, junior! You got me good on that one....wow.

However, there is one thing I do know about you: Someone was lying to you when they told you that you were under 20% body fat in your avy.

Haw many cycles have you done? Four? Five? You look like a kid in a fat suit. God help me if I look like you after that many cycles, I'll call it quits and join you at Pizza Hut. I guess now you're going have a bunch of insane comebacks. I've got plenty of fat jokes so bring it.

Peace out chubs, you're out of your league. Run along now, the ar lounge is waiting for your one-liners.

Very cool. I understand your pain with those damn graduate courses. If you ever live in Colorado, some of my bros are engineers that work for Lockheed Martin Corporation, an advanced technology company, building and designing rockets. I can get you in the door to check things out if nothing else.

Yes, you do care. If you didnt, you wouldnt be fooling yourself by posting your white goo.
I showed my wife your avy. I said, "what do you think of this physic?" I said nothing else.
Her response, "Oh no, that's nasty."

Bro, Im 29. Hardly an old man. What's up with your jealousy comments? Is this the overwhelming emotion you feel when you look at other men? You sure talk about it enough.

By the way, SIX cycles and that's what you've got to show for it. Ouch. Im sorry, man. I heard there was a forum for jenny craig, too. The log-in name, "Chubs" is still for the taking.

Im a lawnmower in your head, and Im cutting grass. Man its fun ripping on you, 'cause its so easy.

That is really cool, bro. I read in a different thread that that you're on your first cycle. Is that true? If so, damn bro, that's impressive. Good work.
