Hey real quick, when do I stop eating before surgery?

I forget if its 10 or 12 hours. I'm starving and have 10 hours to go til my surgery, thought I could eat real quick before I go to bed.

I think they say 12 hours but I have eatin about 6 hours prior to having surgery and my wife has eatin around 8 hours prior with no problems.......

I would not suggest that you eat but I doubt that you would have any problems if you did just keep it small....

BTW good luck with the shoulder dude I hope it all works out well for you....

The doc told me 8-hours. But I will have some aminos in between that, I dont think that could do any harm...

be careful though cause i think they tell u that because of the drug that makes u go to sleep..im half retarded right now and cant think of the name...anastesia(sp) i think...

Usually, they recommend a full 12 hours before surgery. You gotta understand that individual differences account for a lot in medicine. While some can eat 6-8 hours prior to surgery, others can't. You do not want to have any complications with anesthesia because of eating, right? Just drink a bunch of water to curb your craving. Play it safe.
