Getting LASIK PT 2 -- Surgery Done.
Made a separate thread because this is for my post op experience. I got it done on thursday at Dello Russo Laser vision in manhattan. Is that me spamming? maybe but the guy did a ****ing awesome job so he deserves all the kudos in the world.!! Like i said my perscription for contacts was -8.25 so keep that in mind for those who know what that means(waaaayyy past legally blind). The surgery itself was nothing. I felt a little pressure on my eyeball in the first part of the procedure but it wasnt that bad, this part is where they create a corneal flap it took about 30 seconds per eye. they give you valium to calm your nerves and they numb your eyes. The second part is where they zapped my eye with a laser, which is the actual vision correction procedure. it took under 1 minute an eye. They put a protective contact lens on my eye so the flap wouldnt move. So the whole operation lasted less then 5 minutes. there is a lot of prep work....maybe 1 hour or so where they map your eye, retest the info they got during my initial consultation. they are very diligent and professional in that respect.
after sitting in post op for 20 minutes they checked me out and sent me on my merry way. i could see immediatley. Since my eyes were dilated and numb and had a contact lens over them and they were just zapped i couldnt see perfect and was extremely light sensitive. and like any surgery my eyes were a bit inflammed, not noticeable but that is what they said which is normal. But i could see better tehn i normally could without my contacts. I ate took a hydrocodone they gave me and went to sleep. Today i woke up and saw the time on my cable box from across the room which i could never do. i couldn even see my 36" tv let alone the cable box, it used to be a big blur. I was still very light sensitive but i could see much better then yesterday. I had my followup visit this morning where they took out the contact lens. I came home took another hydrocodone and went back to sleep. When i woke up i could see even better!! i looked out my front door and i could see a "curb your dog" sign way across the street pretty damn clear. needless to say i am very impressed. so here i am and the light sensitivity is going away gradually. Another thing is that contact lenses have UV protection so now that im without them i really have to learn how to see in sun light. Its like being born again.
Now they gave me a ton of drops to put in my eyes and ive been good with that. They also gave me a pair of goggles to sleep and shower with because i can still damage the corneal flap in my eye if i rub it. last night i was tearing a little bit(normal) and i was tossing and turning a bit but it wasnothing major(normal).
In summary: This is day 2 and i can almost see perfect. my vision only gets better over the next days, weeks and months. it was the best $4200 i ever spent(18 months no interest financing) and id gladly pay double for these results.. If you are considering laser corrective surgery i highly reccomend dr dello russo. the guy did an amazing job, dont shop around for the best price.....its your eyes for christs sake!!!! now if my eyes dont get to 20/20 they cover one enhancement with this deal 6 months down the road(after its safe to operate again) i dont think ill be needing that!!!!! at the rate my eyes are healing i might end up with xray vision!

Glad to read everything went well!!!
Now use tons of drops to keep those eyes well lubed (don't let them get dry) for the next month or so and enjoy seeing things w/o glasses!

no he should wait. dr Dello russo wont perform the surgery unless your 21 and your eyes havent gotten worse in 2 years.
UPDATE*** today i can see better then i ever could wih contacts. still a little light sensitive and things up close are still a little fuzzy(this is normal for various reasons) but as for distance its amazing right now. You know that feeling when you get a new perscription contacts or glasses and your like "whoa" well thats what im like today the clarity is amazing and im still getting used to it.

Crazy bro, I just got mine done this past week. I, too, had horrible vision and just days after I am seeing 20/25 (with the fuzzy shit up close that you're experiencing). So far it has been amazing, bro, and I look forward to reading your results and comparing them to mine.

Good to hear that everything went well. My vision is -2.25/-2.00 and I'm thinking about getting it done.
I have alot of research to do about it, and need to save my money for it. Might have to get it done in the US, because the Canadian Lazik centers seem to use older technology.
