Anyone running a non profit organisation?

My bullshit tollerance has just about reached its breakingpoint. I am SO ****ing pissed of at the established swedish environmental groups and there blatant antiscientific and antireason attutde that Im soon going to get a big ****ing hatchet and go to town on those assholes. The way they are hurting swedish industries and economy is enough to make any sane man nuts.

So I am currently toying a bit with the idea of starting a new smal environmental group. One that uses facts and science to examine and propose solutions to the problems. I think Im going to atleast check if there is any interest for such a thing at my university. Im tired of just commenting on news articles and debating on forums. I want to be able to move into a more visible role.

But how much hassle is there with the economic side of things, membership fees and all that shit? I wouldnt want to spend half my day beeing a accountant when I have to little time as it is.

Seriously though, it's a similar situation to the movie V for Vendetta. A public in fear is easy to rule, or impose your values upon.

I don't know how hard it is to start a non-profit group, but I saw a report on this pro-science group on the BBC news channel yesterday. http://www.pro-test.org.uk/

It was started by a 16 year old kid. You may want to get in touch with him to find out how it went.

i dont know how things run there but in america "not for profit" does NOT mean that it doesnt make money lol. In the US it has a coporate structure much like any other small or large business but must adhere to government compliance which means they fill out a special tax return and are subject to compliance audits to ensure they didnt set up a "not for profit" for the purpose of tax evasion. as not for profits can apply for an income tax exemption.

Thanks for the link, looks promising. Maby a swedish affiliation would be a good idea

lol well I wouldnt care about any cash. I would just want it to be a platform to be able to combat the misconceptions and lies spread by other environmentalists. I guess I have to take a look at swedish laws. But I find stuff like that so boring thats its unbelivable.
