With regard to short term cases ("one off" occurences... more likely in younger abusers).. the simple solution would be to reduce your alcohol intake.. and the frequency of ingestion.

When hitting the bar you could also take into consideration the limitation in the alcohol oxidation process. (via Alcohol dehydrogenase)

Only a limited amount of alcohol can be metabolised per hour (generic unit).

I think this amount in one ounce.

So technically you shouldn't exceed more than your body can metabolise per hour.

Also your supplementation regime could help stave off the damage as it occurs... etc

thats the thing with all of these studies and experiments...who is your? one persons ability to metabolize may be better than anothers, or worse for that matter, its all relative....

yeah...but under your contention, your true feelings are overridden by logic of things you value to be socially normative...meaning you may feel a certain way, but you don't act upon your feelings because of your opinion of societal norms and acceptances...so when your drunk your opinion of those acceptances seem less important...

is that what your saying?? because what i'm saying is, when I'm sober I dont' have to supress any real feelings to meet social norms...I just have urges when I drink...

Not 'true feelings'... as that would imply conscious suppression.

The formation of internalised values like 'right' and 'wrong' isn't a conscious process.

e.g.

When you walk into a store to buy something you want... you wouldn't (unless you're a kleptomaniac.. thus making this argument obselete) normally have to consciously think about whether you should pay for it or steal it.

Your decision making processes, based on social normative values established during your formative period, are instantenous..and subconscious.. thus It isn't a matter of suppressing a desire.

Breathing.
Metabolic processes

These processes are base... as are our inate impulses.

Still i will concede that different schools of psychological thought view the inhibition theory differently.
