Sony are going for the "family friendly" route but I think everyone is in agreement of how much money porn actually generates. We're all looking at it in some form everyday. Infact I whacked off before work this morning.

i think technology should not be biased. technology is technology, plain and simple, it should be offered to whatever you consider good, bad.

porn is a billion dollar industry. Sony being shortsighted in the past is what doomed the beta-max in favor of VHS..... guess people never learn their lesson.

Yeah right, you know how small the market is for people who actually buy porn on DVDs?

That is like saying you won't own a television because it can be used to watch porn on, or you won't buy books because some people get erotic novels publish in book form.
Wtf. does the media has to do with that? If you're against porn, just don't buy it, it really is as simple as that!

ps3 will still probably keep the blue ray alive but i really hope someone at sony executes the politicially correct, piece of shit, who made that decision. and i guess whoever confirmed that decision should be shot as well.

Sony has messed up before so I'm not surprised at all. Betamax,MiniDisc,UMD,MicroMV,PDD, and now blur-ray... I have a ps3 and an xbox360 with HD DVD drive and for the past two month I've been renting HD movies from netflix and I have to say the PQ of the HD DVD is better then blu-ray.... the only movie that looked great on blu-ray was ice age 2 other then that HD DVD has looked better over all.

well my point with the memory stick really wasnt that it is a failure, just that it is stupid that it isnt compatible with so many things. for that reason i wont ever buy a sony camera because it seems that SD is a more popular media storage device. they did it so you would only buy sony products (take mem stick from camera put it in slot on sony tv, then to PSP etc) the problem is that is the exact reason i wont buy it because sony doesnt produce the best things or the best value of things.

i don't think it will be that big of a deal, because VHS was to porn when it first came out what the internet later became for porn. however i totally agree that blue ray is the next betamax.

Debbie Does Blu-ray & HD-DVD
Vivid Entertainment announces its first adult title on high-def DVD.
By Phillip Swann
Washington, D.C. (January 12, 2007) -- Vivid Entertainment will release its first adult film on Blu-ray and HD-DVD in late March or early April, TVPredictions.com has learned.
The first release will be Debbie Does Dallas... Again, a remake of the classic Debbie Does Dallas. The film stars Stefani Morgan as Debbie and is directed by Paul Thomas.
Vivid, which generates $100 million in sales annually, told TVPredictions.com last November that it would release its debut HDTV DVD on Blu-ray first and HD-DVD later.
"As of now, it (the first release) will just be Blu-ray," said Vivid CEO Steve Hirsch. "But that's not to say we won't release it in HD-DVD later. Blu-ray seems to have the momentum. But we're not in the business of picking winners. We will produce content for all formats."
But a Vivid spokeswoman today said Debbie Does Dallas...Again will be released in both formats on the same day.
Asked if that reflected a change in position, the spokeswoman said: "I don't know about that. We've been talking only about releasing in both formats starting with Debbie."
The adult industry's stance on the format war between Blu-ray and HD-DVD is being closely watched as a possible barometer.
Digital Playground, another adult film studio, this week reversed course and said it would release its films on HD-DVD after earlier endorsing Blu-ray. And a few other adult film makers said they were leaning to HD-DVD.Muscle Asylum Project Athlete

Blu-ray: We Like Porn, Too
A spokesman for the high-def DVD says there's no effort to block adult film studios from making discs.
By Phillip Swann
*
Washington, D.C. (January 17, 2007) -- The Blu-ray Disc Association is denying that it's trying to block adult film studios from releasing their titles on the high-def DVD.
Last week, several adult studio executives said they would release their films on HD-DVD, the HDTV DVD rival to Blu-ray, because Blu-ray copying facilities were refusing to cooperate with them.
But Marty Gordon, vice chairman of the Blu-ray Disc Association, which represents companies backing the format, tells the web site Ars Technica that Blu-ray will work with all content providers.
"The **A welcomes the participation of all companies interested in using and supporting the format, particularly those from the content industry," Gordon told the web site. "We look forward to working with any content providers interested in providing their audience with (the) possible High-Definition home entertainment experience."
Gordon did not refer to the adult studios, but it appeared clear that his remarks were directed at the controversy which surfaced last week at an adult industry conference in Las Vegas. Joone, the head of Digital Playground, a leading adult studio, said Sony, which backs Blu-ray, did not want him to publish his films on Blu-ray.
Vivid Entertainment, another leading adult studio, told TVPredictions.com that it would release its first HDTV DVD title on both Blu-ray and HD-DVD. However, Vivid CEO Steve Hirsch acknowledged that it was difficult finding a Blu-ray copying facility that would cooperate with him.
