Valentines engagement?
So what is everyone doing for Valentines? Any plans or surprises that you guys might have planned?
I my self don't know if I should ask my gf to marry me. We have a very long history together some good and some bad but mostly good. I'm now 28 and shes 26 and we met in high school in 1997. We both graduated from junior college and the university together with the same major. We had plans to get married in 2003 when we graduated from College but we broke up and she gave me the ring back. We've been back together since Dec 2004 and I have a good job now, nice big house 2800sqft that I live in by myself. Sometimes I feel like I need someone to share things with. Shes very smart and kept me going when I didn't believe in myself. Sometimes we get mad at each other for small things but keep it cool all the time. The only thing that sets me back is that everywhere i look like in the internet or tv we see all these HOt ladies wearing bikinies showing their great bodies and fake tits. I'm like hopping that my wife looked like one of them but then again we need to go back to reality and be happy with what we have. I've dated cute ladies but they were dumb as **** and didn't have goals or dreams in life. Any advise for me?

i'm not married, i'm young so i couldn't tell you a thing about relationships, but to me it sounds like your still a bit unsure. i think you definitely have something good with this girl, but maybe wait a little while longer and see. from what i've heard from friends who have tied the knot, they all say you'll know for sure. i'm not trying to give advice, just trying to put my perspective on things for ya. best of luck with whatever you choose to do.

If you have to ask a bunch of strangers on the internet if you should pop the question to your girl I say not yet man. You should be absolutely 100% sure and confident with the decision. If you feel lonely in your house ask her to move in and see how that goes then think about marriage.

Shes attractive, it probably has to do with me being a Virgo. Were want everything to be perfection and were really picky on women.

1. Never get engaged on a Holiday or Birthday. (woman can claim it was a gift, and not have to return the ring)
2. Never get engaged
3. See #1 and #2
Seriously, do you know the odds of you staying married to your high school girlfriend?
All my friends thought the same thing...getting older...good job...have a nice house...etc. They are all divorced now.
What you should be thinking is.....getting older...good job...have a nice house...etc...So, you don't NEED to get married. You can get girls with out having to buy them rings and give them a place to live.

Honestly man, I wish you the best of luck, but if you need to ask an internet forum on whether or not to marry your chick, I would say no

**** it. whos ever sure about popping the question. i bet about half the people on this forum who were married were shaking in there boots before they popped the questions. no one is 100% but thats probably the reason why 45% of marriages never last
Ohh and the virgo hoo haa, people signs and crap, its all made up mythlogical BS. that somthing you used to pick up wierd girls, not somthing u use to determin what your feeling hahaha cmon brotha.

i dont believe he posted this for us to help make up his mind. like everyone else here in the lounge he is likely stuck for things to do, so thought he would post his story. which, has elicited a good response thus far.

When I first read this thread I thought the title said "Valentino's engagement." I clicked on it because I couldn't believe someone would actually marry that tard.

If I were you I wouldn't propose for any type of holiday or special day because if something goes wrong and you call it off she is entitled to keep the ring because it could be considered a gift.

Just give her half your nice big house now that will save you 10-20 years of grief.

Learn from my mistake. I was with my highschool sweetie for 7 YEARS. I was engaged for less than one year before I called it off. Now why would i do that you ask?
Everything was terrific before we lived together. We bought a house together and I couldn't stand her. Total control freak. It was the hardest thing i had to do when I called it off but I'm happier now than I ever would have been with her.
Money spent on engagement ring- 7,000
Money lost on mortgage payments/closing costs/ taxes/ lawyer- Don't ask
Not having to argue for 3 hours when I want to go out and have a drink or leave a dish in the sink for more than 5 minutes- priceless
Lesson- LIVE TOGETHER BEFORE GETTING ENGAGED

i wish both u well and hope it works out but my biology professor told us that if u get married on a holiday such as valentines and it doesnt work out then she's allowed by law to keep any gifts u gave her. so that might be some to think about. i'd go on a regular day.

yup, but I was thinking that if you do it on a holiday like valentines or her birthday. On the anniverssary you only have to buy one gift. lol
